I have this error for the past few weeks, it has never occurred before. I have not added new decks to my collection. When I update notetypes from the AnkiHub addon, I get an error message saying my collection is too large, to check data base, sync again and to force a one way sync. I did those steps but to no avail.
My rough understanding it’s the new images created from Anking that are being added on the notes and not in my media file?
Most images are under 1mb, some are over but not many. I recently also checked the majority of the files and reduced many (saving around 200 MB)
Unless someone was maliciously suggesting images that are gigantic in size (there’s no way to screen those on AnkiHub). I’ll export media and check right now
Just checked and its consistent from when I exported weeks ago. Nothing out of the ordinary. The biggest file is a 30mb GIF (which we can do with reducing in size a bit)
@abdo.nh: It’s was only an hypothesis, since I’ve started to get this issue after I updated the notetypes from the addon, about 1 month ago. I have updated the notetypes several times previously, without any issues. I have not added new decks in well over 2 years. What is changing when we update the notetypes?
@Ahmed7 : I am glad to hear the images are small sizes and thank you for verifying. I don’t know then what is the problem.
The problem I had in mind is not about big image files, rather images that are included directly in the fields as encoded text (Data URLs), which will count towards Anki’s collection size limit. Such images can sneak into the deck if copied from certain websites that use them. I did a quick search in the AnKing deck and couldn’t find any though.
@pock If you export your collection and share it (you can use AnkiHub > Help > Upload logs and data), I can look more into the issue.
@abdo.nh thank you for your help! I erroneously said I was updating the notetype from the AnkiHub addon, it’s from Anking. What exactly does updating to the lastest notetypes do with the cards? Does it add anything on them?
I’ve done what you asked, this file is before updating the notes: ankihub_addon_debug_info_cf88f_1726233755.zip
I can’t produce a file after updating the notes. I waited more than 1 hour for the logs to be uploaded and still nothing and ended up “killing” Anki.
I’ve also noted Anki froze for several minutes after updating the notes. I don’t recall this behaviour when I previously updated the notetypes.
