It sounds like two things may have happened at once: media (images/tables) may have been removed locally, and/or some UWorld content might have been affected by how it was added in the first place.
A few quick checks and fixes you can try:
1. Confirm itâs only media (not full cards) thatâs missing
Open a few affected cards and check:
- Is the text still there, but the table/image area is blank or shows a broken image icon?
â This points to a media issue.
- Or are full fields/cards missing?
â This might be a note/field sync or template issue.
Mention which of these it is in your reply if you can.
2. Check Ankiâs media database
- In Anki desktop, go to:
Tools â Check Media
- Let Anki scan; it will show:
- Missing files
- Unused files
If you see a lot of missing media listed, that confirms the files are not currently in your collection. Take a screenshot of the âCheck Mediaâ results and upload it here if possible.
3. Make sure youâre fully synced with AnkiWeb
Sometimes the media is still on another device or on AnkiWeb:
- On the device where the images/tables were originally present, open Anki.
- Click Sync and let it fully finish (including media).
- Then on your current device, Sync again and wait for media to finish.
Let us know if any UWorld tables/images reappear after this.
4. How did you add the UWorld tables originally?
This part really matters for whatâs recoverable:
- Did you:
- Use the AnKing UWorld add-on or a specific workflow/tutorial?
- Copy-paste tables and images manually from UWorld into Anki?
- Use a thirdâparty importer or another add-on?
If the content was manually pasted (especially images hosted online), itâs possible some of those files werenât truly stored as Anki media, or they were later deleted/overwritten.
Please describe briefly how you added the UWorld material before it disappeared.
5. Check for backups (most important for recovery)
Anki keeps automatic backups:
- In Anki desktop, go to File â Switch Profile â [your profile] â Downgrade & Export (or Open backup) or
File â Import and point to your backups folder.
- Look at backups from before your recent sync (yesterday or earlier).
- Temporarily open/restore one of those backups and check if the UWorld images/tables are present there.
If they are present in a backup, you likely can restore from that backup (and then reâset up AnkiHub if needed). Before doing this, tell us what you find so we can help you choose the safest restore approach without losing your AnkiHub changes.
6. AnkiHubâspecific checks
Even though UWorld content itself is not part of the official AnKing-AnkiHub deck, sometimes users put UWorld content into:
- Custom fields or
- Personal edits synced via AnkiHub.
Please let us know:
- Which AnKing variation/version youâre using (e.g. AnKing Overhaul V12, Step 2 V10, etc.)
- Whether youâve:
- Made lots of personal edits to those cards, and
- Enabled âUpload my editsâ on AnkiHub at any point.
With that info we can guide you on whether anything might be restorable via AnkiHub or if itâs purely local/backup-dependent.
To help you best, please reply with:
- Whether the card text is intact and only media is missing.
- Screenshot (or description) of the output of Tools â Check Media.
- How you originally added the UWorld tables/images.
- Whether you can see those tables/images in any recent backup.
Once you share that, we can walk you through the safest next step to try to restore them.
