AI Smartsearch Cards not Adding to Deck

I uploaded my class notes to AI smart search and got a list of ~150 cards. I would like to add them to a new subdeck but when I attempt to add them, it says 0 cards were added and they are not in the subdeck or unsuspended from the main deck. I tried on both the desktop and web version but both yield the same result of not unsuspending and adding these cards to the new subdeck. Additionally, it takes the AI tool around 5-6 min to go through a 6 page document.

I’ll help you with your issue about AI SmartSearch cards not adding to your deck. Let me search for some relevant information that might help us solve this problem.

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with AI SmartSearch. Let me help you troubleshoot this issue.

Understanding the Problem

From what you’ve described, you’re attempting to add cards from AI SmartSearch to a new subdeck, but no cards are being added despite the interface indicating they were found. This is happening on both desktop and web versions.

Possible Solutions

First, let’s make sure you’re using the feature correctly:

  1. Check your AnkiHub setup:

    • Ensure you have an active AnkiHub premium subscription
    • Verify you have the latest version of the AnkiHub add-on
    • Make sure you’re using the latest version of Anki
  2. Access Smart Search properly:

    • When clicking on the deck (which must be AI-enabled like AnKing Step Deck), you should see a purple “Smart Search” button
    • You can also access it via the AI robot icon in the bottom right of Anki
  3. When adding cards to a subdeck:

    • After getting your search results, make sure you’re selecting the cards (checkboxes) before trying to add them
    • Verify that the subdeck you’re trying to add to already exists
    • Ensure you have the appropriate permissions to modify the deck
  4. Performance considerations:

    • The 5-6 minutes processing time for a 6-page document is within expected ranges for the AI to analyze content

Next Steps

If you’ve confirmed the above and still have issues, you might try:

  1. Restart Anki completely after closing it
  2. Try a smaller batch of cards first (select just 10-20) to see if that works
  3. Create the subdeck manually before attempting to add cards to it
  4. Check if the cards exist in the main deck but are suspended - you may need to unsuspend them manually

If these suggestions don’t resolve your issue, please provide more specific details about:

  • Which deck you’re using with SmartSearch

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

Just double-checking to make sure we don’t have a global issue, the feature/s seem to be working fine on my end when I tested it just now

Can you share a bit more detail about the specific difficulties you’re running into?

The more context you can share the easier it may be to be of help. Screenshots are ideal, if you can, just so I can see what you’re seeing
