Thanks for the detailed description and link, that helps.

A few things to check/try, since the images are missing both on AnkiHub and in Anki:

1. Confirm the deck actually has media on AnkiHub

Sometimes a shared deck may not have media uploaded correctly.

  1. Open the deck page you linked:
    https://app.ankihub.net/decks/91191885-87c9-4b18-9ad1-e058c158d3f2
  2. Scroll through a few cards in the Preview on the right.
    • If images don’t appear there at all (only broken icons / empty spaces), it’s likely the deck’s media was never uploaded or is broken on the creator’s side.
    • In that case, there’s unfortunately nothing you can fix locally; the deck owner (nguyenjohnn) or AnkiHub team would need to re-upload/fix the media.

If you can confirm whether you see any working images on the web preview, that’s helpful.

2. If the web preview shows images, but Anki does not

Then it’s likely a media sync issue between AnkiHub/AnkiWeb and your device.

On your computer (desktop Anki):

  1. Go to Tools → Check Media
    • Let it finish. This can generate missing LaTeX images and detect missing files.
  2. Then sync with AnkiWeb.
  3. After that, in AnkiHub:
    • Make sure you’re logged into the same AnkiWeb account.
    • Click Sync in the AnkiHub add-on (desktop) to ensure your media & cards are up to date.
  4. Restart Anki and test a few of the affected cards.

Also check:

  • Tools → Add-ons → AnkiHub → Config and make sure:
    • You’re subscribed to the correct deck.
    • There are no sync errors shown in the AnkiHub sidebar.

3. If images are missing both on AnkiHub and Anki across multiple decks

Since you mentioned this happens with other decks as well:

  • This increases the chance it’s:
    • A general media problem on your device (e.g., media not downloaded, blocked by security software), or
    • Multiple decks that never had media correctly uploaded.

Please let me know:

  1. Your device/platform (Windows/Mac/Linux).
  2. Whether you can see images in any Anki deck (e.g., a simple shared deck from AnkiWeb).
  3. Whether the web preview for any AnkiHub deck shows working images.

With that info I can narrow it down further.

4. Next step if the deck’s media is missing on AnkiHub

If it looks like the media is indeed missing on the AnkiHub deck itself, the best next step is:

  • Reply here with:
    • Confirmation that no images appear in the AnkiHub web preview.
    • Whether you’re okay with us pinging the deck creator or flagging it for the AnkiHub team.

They may need to:

  • Re-upload the media, or
  • Publish a fixed version of the deck.

Reply with what you see in the web preview and what platform you’re on, and I’ll help you with the exact next steps.

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

You might double-check, though I believe that for that deck the owner may have opted to include the media separate from AnkiHub for whatever reasons. At the very least, I don’t show that there is media stored for the deck on AnkiHub’s side, thus I suspect that it’s not so much that AnkiHub images are missing but rather than the deck owner either did not include that media, or may have intended to include that media as a separate file (which folks sometimes do)

In this case, since the deck was uploaded by an individual user, rather than being a deck that is maintained by the AnkiHub team, you may have to reach out to the deck owner to see about how best to access the media for their deck.

From there, if you’re having trouble with other decks as well I’d be happy to help try to troubleshoot those as well. Can you share a bit more detail about the specific difficulties you’re running into?

The more context you can share the easier it may be to be of help. Screenshots are ideal, if you can, just so I can see what you’re seeing

thank you!
