AnKing not following the scheduler/algorithm

Hi folks,
The best way I can describe it is it’s like the AnKing deck is just doing whatever it wants to do with the cards in terms of where it places it back into the algorithm once I answer a card. The card could be new, I might click again, and it will respond as though I had hit easy. That is, the card basically disappears from what’s appearing in terms of cards remaining in each category. This will happen multiple times in a study session. I might have three reviews left; answer that 3rd from the end card, and it’ll jump to the “Congratulations you’ve finished all the cards” page. What’s weird is if I then go answer cards from a different deck (the USPSTF recommendations deck, for example), that deck will behave all wonky also, and when I get back to the home screen the deck that had cards disappear or not go to the right place will then be waiting as “learning” or as reviews.

Super frustrating, any help would be much appreciated, thanks very much

Lane

Hello,

When did this start occuring?

When this happens for a card, can you go to the card → right click → info → take a screenshot of the review data?

Are all your settings and intervals correct? Did you modify anything recently?

It just started happening this week. I took Step 1, passed ( ), took two weeks away from it and then had to make some fairly significant changes to adjust it to how I’m going to use it for my clinical years. I did it with the help of a buddy who is considered the Anki expert in our class.

That said, I did not change any of my actual settings as it relates to new cards/lapses/burying, but when I downloaded the specific “AnkiHub_Optional” → “TTUHSC_Lubbock” tag that I am going to use this year and then synced everything, my settings were in fact changed. And that’s when this started - which was Sunday.
I’m about to study in a bit, I’ll get the “review data” on a card then.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Congrats! :heart_hands:

The only way I can see that things changed is when installing a new AnkiHub deck, clicking on “use recommended settings” will change things

If you go to your deck settings and nothing has changed in terms of interval settings or learn ahead limit etc, then it most likely is not AnkiHub related

Let’s see the review data then we can get a better look on what’s going on

Hey thanks dude. What a grind it was.
Ok, I did what you asked and captured the review data when it did what I described above, but as I’m looking at it, I realize it was the HoggieMed USPSTF recs dec so I don’t know if that’s gonna help. Also I took a picture of the deck screen too - notice the 1 buried card indication - that deck, like all of my decks, doesn’t have burying turned on at all. Also, I’ve included two screen shots from within Anking (where it says I have 53 new and 9 learning cards), and then I went immediately out on the “Decks” screen - and it says I have 53 new and 26

learning cards

This occurs when you have the bury setting on.

Can you check if you have any of these settings below on?

Also for the last image attached, it appears its working as intended where the intervals go up each time and then it goes from learn to review with the proper timings, correct?

Yeah I think the schedule is working; it’s not the schedule itself. Something’s just…funky/weird.
For example, I just had 7 new cards left, 0 learning, 0 reviews. I turned over each of those cards, clicked “again” for each of those cards, and as I did, they did not go to the “learning” pile, they disappeared. As though I had hit “easy” on them.
And when I hit again for the last new card, it said, “Congratulations” Now, they will eventually pop back up in the “learning” pile after I go unlock some other cards or work on another deck or close Anki and re-open it.

sorry I didn’t address this - bro all the burying settings have been turned off the entire time but it’s acting like they’re NOT turned off

What is your learn ahead limit?

When you press again, do you want it to show up immediately?

If so, then when using AnkiHub recommended settings, the learn ahead limit is set to 0. While the default is 20

So if your again is 10 minutes:

AnkiHub recommended settings: you will see them in 10 minutes
Anki default settings: you will see them immediately

Regarding the burying, can you go through each of your settings and check that each one does not have burying enabled?

The learn ahead limit! It was at zero, I increased it, I think that did it! Ahmed7, I don’t know what school you’re at or where you are in the process, but the fact that you make time to help peeps figure out how this stuff is awesome bro. Thank you so much.
