Automatically make cards one-by-one if they have 3 or more same numbered clozes

Is this possible? I see there is an option under the anking notetypes customization to auto enable 1by1, and also there is a “minimum number of clozes” option, but when i have it set to auto enable and i make that number 3 even cards with just a single cloze turn into 1by1 cards. I import a lot of poorly made cards from friends that have a bunch of c1 clozes and id like to have those automatically become 1by1 if there are 3 or more clozes with the same number.

There isn’t any way to do it automatically, unfortunately

As you’ve noted, classifying by the number three will automatically bring up all of the cards that belong to the note, even aside from the third cloze specifically.

What you can do, and it may or may not be ideal though it is something of a workaround, is go into the Browse screen and click on the ‘Card’ column:

This will order your cards by this column. So all of the ‘cloze 3’ cards will be in a row, etc. From here, you can select all of just the cloze-3 cards in isolation.

From here, you might make use of the Batch Edit add-on (https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/291119185) and make them one-by-one cards.

This is a ‘should work in theory’ idea, as I’ve never done this and haven’t tested it myself but if it’s something you’re wanting to accomplish that’s about the nearest way that I can imagine getting it done.

Please let me know if that answers your question, and if there’s anything else I can help with. :slight_smile:

Thank you for your prompt response. I don’t think i was fully clear. Here is an example of a card I would like to be automatically 1by1:

↓ automatically make this one 1 by 1 ↓
this {{c1::is}} {{c1::an}} {{c1::example}} {{c1::of}} a card with 3 or more clozes with the same number (all c1)

↓ dont make this 1 by 1 ↓
this {{c1::is}} {{c1::an}} example of a card with 2 or fewer clozes with the same number (c1)

↓ dont make this 1 by 1 ↓
this {{c1::is}} {{c2::an}} {{c3::example}} {{c4::of}} a card with 3 or more clozes with different numbers (c1, c2, c3, c4)

hopefully this makes sense

What I typed out above is about the best I have to offer, unfortunately. It’s a pretty specific request and I’ve not had occasion to do it before, and am not 100% sure that what you’re shooting for is entirely feasible

If it is, it will almost certainly not be automatic at the very least

Okay thanks, I figured but wanted to make sure.
