Hi, almost every other student in my medical school class is able to view AkiHub_Optional subdeck of Anking, however, I am not despite going through the same process of installing. Because of this, Iâm unable to see which step cards correlate with our in-house lectures. What is the remedy for this problem? (It is supposed to be in between Instructions and Subdeck).

This usually happens for one of these reasons:
-
Youâre not on the same AnkiHub deck / version as your classmates
- Confirm with a classmate which exact AnkiHub deck theyâre subscribed to (e.g. the main AnKing Overhaul deck on AnkiHub, not a local/shared .apkg).
- In Anki, go to
AnkiHub â Manage Decksand make sure youâre:- Subscribed to the same deck, and
- Fully synced (no pending initial download).
-
The AnkiHub_Optional deck is filtered/hidden by your view
- In the Browse window, rightâclick in the left deck list and:
- Check that âCollapse allâ isnât hiding a nested subdeck you just need to expand.
- Make sure youâre not using any search like
deck:"AnkiHub_Subdeck"that would hide other AnkiHub folders.
- Back in the main Anki window, see if there is an AnkiHub_Optional deck outside the AnKing parent deck or nested in a different place.
- In the Browse window, rightâclick in the left deck list and:
-
AnkiHub metadata hasnât applied to your collection yet
- Run:
Tools â Check Database. - Then:
AnkiHub â Sync with AnkiHubagain and wait until it fully completes. - Restart Anki.
- Run:
-
The necessary AnkiHub note fields / tags are missing
- Ask a classmate to share a single card thatâs supposed to be in AnkiHub_Optional (via
Card Info â Shareor by exporting that one note). - After importing that note, sync with AnkiHub again. Sometimes this âanchorsâ the optional deck if some metadata was missing.
- Ask a classmate to share a single card thatâs supposed to be in AnkiHub_Optional (via
If youâre willing, please also post:
- A screenshot of your main deck list (not just the left pane in Browse), and
- A screenshot of
AnkiHub â Manage Decksshowing which shared deck youâre subscribed to.
With those, we can pinpoint whether itâs a subscription/version issue or just a display/sync problem.
Hello,
I would be happy to help. ![]()
It sounds like your classmates may be subscribed to an optional tag. I show that your account is not subscribed to any optional tags, which is likely why the âoptionalâ tag is not showing up
In order for that to display, you will want to be subscribed to an optional tag
Optional tags are not loaded by default, as there are many many of them and they are often school-specific. Thus, in order to have access to the one/s that you want you will have to subscribe to a given optional tag. This tutorial can walk you through how to do that: How to Subscribe to an Optional Tag
Please let me know if that answers your question, and if thereâs anything else I can help with. ![]()
Hey Brian. I actually am subscribed the my medical schoolâs optional tag, and have verified countless times to make sure that I was.
At least for the username from which youâre contacting us, zaina29, I have double-checked and I show that you are not currently subscribed to any optional tags
You might double-check that you are subscribed to the optional tag you want, just to ensure that the feature is available for you
