So I wanted to ask the general community - if you were attempting to do 50 new cards a day, but wanted to catch up on Overdue or due cards only within a specific deck like for your IM Shelf exam, how would you do it so you can separate 50 new IM cards in one filtered deck and then do all the Overdues for the IM Shelf tag on a separate filtered deck?
I haven’t been able to find an answer on how to do this or if it will all just be under one tag of dues and overdues (which could include cards from step 1 as well as shelf stuff)
Is there anyone who knows how to do this? Thank you!
There are multiple ways to go about this, and there might likely be easier ways to do it than creating multiple custom-filtered decks. But, if you specifically want to do it via custom-filtered deck, the easiest way to do this would likely be as follows:
For the custom-filtered deck that you do want to show new cards, include two search strings in the custom filtered deck; one for the deck itself and one for the card state you want (in this case, ‘new’):
For the custom-filtered deck that you do not want to show new cards, include two search strings in the custom filtered deck; one for the deck itself and one for the card state you want (in this case, ‘not new’):
Keep in mind that this second filtered deck won’t necessarily, on its own, prioritize overdue cards. That’s up to your deck settings (though it can be done, it will depend on your settings to some degree).
There are other routes, but if I’ve understood the question well this is certainly one way to go about it. Let me know if that makes sense, and if there is anything else I can help with.
Well, there are a thousand ways to accomplish most things. Without typing them all out, the simplest would be to use subdecks (I think this is what most people do).
For example, personally I almost never use custom-filtered decks in day-to-day usage. They certainly have their use, but I tend not to organize my studying that way
