Separate deck for UWorld Incorrects

Hi All,

I’m currently in dedicated and want to focus more on questions rather than completing my reviews daily (since I’m averaging ~1000 reviews per day -_-, added a lot of new cards a couple weeks ago and seems to still be haunting me?)

Anyways I was looking for some help on how to create a separate deck that I could use for the next month that houses only cards from my UWorld incorrects. I have the add-on to find those cards, but I want to essentially copy and paste them into a separate deck I can review from without having to go through my Anking deck.

Is there a way to do this that doesn’t involve moving the card to another deck? I’m going to be using Anking for step 2 and don’t want to mess anything up.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

From the sound of it what I think you’re looking for is a custom-filtered deck: How to Build a Custom-Filtered Deck

You’d have to tag those cards, or flag them, in some way to make a search string such that the custom-filtered deck can, well, filter them.

Let me know if that makes sense, and/or if you need any help setting it up. Happy to help however I can.

Thank you Brian, that was very easy I appreciate it!

Just a couple of questions:

I’m using ‘reschedule based on my answers within this deck’ so the scheduling doesn’t change overall. Just a couple questions:

  1. Will these cards also show up if I am completing the main deck?
  2. I am filtering by flag, so if I flag a new card will it show up in this custom deck?
  3. If I delete this deck post exam, will all the scheduling still be okay?

Sorry I could probably find this info elsewhere, but while I have you…

If you use ‘reschedule based on your answers within the deck’ that will change your scheduling, just FYI. This isn’t right or wrong, just depends on what you want to do

  1. If the cards are in the custom-filtered deck they won’t appear in the main deck. Cards can only be in one deck at a time.
  2. Depends on which flag you’ve filtered by. If you filtered by, say, the red flag then only red-flagged cards will show up there; a card flagged blue won’t show up in that deck (unless you also add that flag to that deck, which you can do if you want).
  3. If you delete the custom-filtered deck, the cards will just migrate back to their original deck home (wherever they were before you filtered them into the custom-filtered deck).

All good, happy to help anytime.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your quick and clear responses.

So, it seems that when I build the custom deck, it is making cards that are not due today into green reviews. i.e. I currently have zero reviews left for the day, but when I build a custom filtered deck with a flag, it says 500 are due. Even though they are unsuspended in Anking with future due dates.

Any reason this would happen/how to fix?

Thanks again.

Hey hey,

You can add a second string to a filtered deck to specify that you want, specifically, only cards that are currently due. It would look something like this:

Let me know if that helps.

Sorry I don’t think I am explaining the problem correctly. I’ve attached some screenshots.

This is the current status of my Anking deck

And then this is my settings for creating a custom filtered

And then this is the custom deck that is created.

It shows that now 500+ cards are due when there are only 9 due in the whole deck. I clicked study and clicked info for a ‘green’ card and it says it isn’t due until late January but the custom deck is showing it now. I am afraid that when I answer in the custom deck it will mess up the scheduling as these cards should not be due right now. Does that make sense?

Ah, in this case you may try putting both in the same line, as so:

Otherwise I think what it’s doing is grabbing both cards that are tagged and, separately, cards that are due (that are not, necessarily, tagged). That’s an oversight on my part in recommending that they go in separate lines.

Let me know how/if that works for you.

Hi Brian,

Worked perfectly thank you so much. I wish I knew about this feature earlier! I played around with it and realized I can do things like filter things like: UWorld Incorrects + High Yield Anking tag. This is perfect for dedicated - I can focus on the HY tag for reviews & new cards even if I can’t finish all the cards.

And just to confirm because I am paranoid, there aren’t any long term problems with this method correct? Whenever I delete these decks the cards are just shuffled back to the main Anking deck with the progress saved?

Thanks again for your help!!

No long-term issues at all; plenty of folks use custom-filtered decks all the time and frequently every day.

Once you delete, or otherwise get rid of, those filtered decks they’ll just migrate back to their deck of origin and that’s that.

Glad to hear you got it down. Let me know if you have any other questions or if there is anything else I can do to help.
