Deletion of subdeck within Anking Step Deck deletes the cards entirely

The title pretty much says it all. During my second year of medical school, I created various subdecks under the Anking Step Deck based on whatever block I was in.

However, I have since started clinicals and want to start anew. I resert my entire Anking step deck, but when I attempt to delete the subdecks within my Anking Step Deck, it deletes the cards the associated cards from the Anking Step Deck entirely.

Is it possible to delete the subdeck without permanently deleting the cards? How do I fix this?

My ultimately goal is to reorganize my subdecks for the purpose of studying for shelfs.

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

Yes, it is the case that if you delete a deck, or subdeck, it will also delete anything that is in that deck (including the cards contained therein). There’s not much way around that, unfortunately

If you would like to delete a subdeck, but not the cards in that subdeck, you’ll want to first remove the cards from that subdeck. Then, once the subdeck is empty, you can freely delete it without impacting your cards.

This tutorial walks through how to move cards around; the example it uses is a bit different than your use-case but the basic idea should suffice: How to move AnKing cards to their own deck

Give that a shot, let me know how you fare, and we’ll go from there and hopefully we can get you squared away.
