Image is not appearing

Hello,

I just subscribed to “The Only EKG Deck you ll ever need” and after reviewing them I noticed that images are not appearing in my deck, instead an icon is appearing in my every card. Please help me with this. Thank you so much.

Thanks for the screenshots—that helps a lot.

That “broken image / file” icon almost always means the media files for the deck didn’t download or aren’t in Anki’s collection.media folder.

Please try these steps in order:

1. Make sure you imported the deck with media

If you downloaded an .apkg file for The Only EKG Deck You’ll Ever Need:

  1. In Anki desktop, go to File → Import and re‑import the deck.
  2. When importing, make sure:
    • You’re importing the official file (not an empty/shared variant).
    • The import finishes without errors.

If you subscribed via AnkiHub add-on:

  1. In Anki desktop, go to Tools → AnkiHub → Manage Subscriptions.
  2. Find The Only EKG Deck You’ll Ever Need and click “Sync media now” (or similar media sync option).
  3. Let it finish completely (it can take several minutes on a big deck).

2. Check if the images exist in your media folder

  1. In Anki desktop, go to Tools → Check Media.
  2. See if Anki reports a lot of missing files (e.g., image123.png).
    • If there are many missing files, it confirms the media never downloaded.

If you see missing files, run the AnkiHub media sync again (see step 1) and keep Anki open until it fully completes.

3. Make sure you’re on desktop, not just mobile

AnkiHub syncing (especially big media sets) works most reliably when:

  1. You sync everything on Anki desktop first (including media).
  2. Then open AnkiMobile / AnkiDroid and sync there so the images transfer from AnkiWeb.

If you only subscribed/synced on mobile, do the full setup on desktop once.

4. If it still doesn’t work

Please reply with:

  • Whether you subscribed through AnkiHub or downloaded an .apkg.
  • A screenshot of Tools → Check Media results.
  • Your Anki version (e.g., 24.04) and OS (Windows/Mac/Linux).

With that info, we can narrow it down quickly and get your images showing.

Hello,

Did you download the deck recently? Images can take some time to download.

On your Anki main screen, click on AnkiHub and see if the media sync status shows idle:

If it’s still downloading, just keep Anki open until everything finishes downloading.

If it shows idle, please follow this tutorial to reset local changes, keep Anki open for a bit, and the images should download: How to Reset Local Changes

Thank you for your quick response.

But unfortunately I am still dealing with the same issue after doing everything you said. Its showing error like this (attached image)

And on checking “check media” in tools its showing like this:

Could you please send a screenshot of what your media sync shows? Does it say “idle” or “downloading”? This will help us better understand the issue.

In the meantime, please update Anki and your AnkiHub add-on:

  • For Anki, you can download the latest version here: https://apps.ankiweb.net/. Once downloaded, simply run the file to update your application.
  • Here’s how to update your AnkiHub add-on:
  1. On the Anki main screen, go to Tools > Add-ons > Check for Updates.
  2. After the update is complete, please restart Anki.

Then please reset local changes again: How to Reset Local Changes

Hi,

Thank you for your response.

I’ve attached a screenshot showing the media sync status. It currently shows idle.

I have also updated Anki to the latest version and updated the AnkiHub add-on. After restarting Anki, I reset the local changes as instructed.

Unfortunately, the issue still persists.

To help us investigate this further, could you please upload your logs? Here’s how:

  1. In the Anki app, navigate to the menu: AnkiHub > Help > Upload Logs.
  2. A filename will be shown in a confirmation pop-up. Please copy and paste that filename here for us.

Thank you for the logs. Since it looks like you’ve already tried other troubleshooting steps, I’ll tag our developers so they can take a look at what’s happening.

Hello, I’ve been having the same issue, tried all the steps in the post, but it didn’t work. My Media Sync is Idle, so I’ve done what you said and the name that shows is that ankihub_addon_logs_lorenaspanhol_1782637417.log. Can you help me? none of my decks are showing the images .

@deep123 @lorenaspanhol The logs show connection errors. Some questions/workarounds:

  1. Do you have issues accessing the website from Microsoft Edge?
  2. If you have any VPN/firewall software running try disabling it.
  3. Try temporarily connecting to a different network if available, sync with AnkiHub and send logs again.
  4. Do you have the latest Windows updates? In some cases missing updates cause Anki to fail to connect to websites, so it’s worth checking that.

* Do you have issues accessing the [website](https://app.ankihub.net) from Microsoft Edge?

I Didn’t try it, I always acess it on Chrome and on the app at the computer or smartphone

* If you have any VPN/firewall software running try disabling it.

I don’t think I have

* Try temporarily connecting to a different network if available, sync with AnkiHub and send logs again.

I’ve tried it, didn’t work.

* Do you have the latest Windows updates? In some cases missing updates cause Anki to fail to connect to websites, so it’s worth checking that.

Do I have to have the last version of Windows?

I was suggesting trying to access it from Microsoft Edge because that can reveal some types of network issues that are likely to affect Anki too.

Windows 10 works if that’s what you’re using. I’m referring to installing the latest updates for your OS from Windows Update under Settings.

You can also try excluding Anki from the Windows Firewall: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zijsJZionv0
