I’ll help you attach pictures to better explain your issue. To add images to your post:

To attach pictures to your forum post, you can follow these steps:

  1. When writing or editing your post, you can upload images by:

    • Clicking the upload button (looks like a paper clip or image icon) in the editor toolbar
    • Dragging and dropping an image directly into the editor
    • Pasting an image from your clipboard (Ctrl+V or Cmd+V)
  2. Alternative method: Click the “Upload” button below the text editor where you’re typing your response.

Once uploaded, the image will appear in your post. This will help you better explain the issues you’re experiencing with your Anki cards.

Regarding your original issue about the “inconsistent database” error and problems with ZANKI cards, this sounds like a syncing conflict between AnkiWeb and your local Anki database. The “cloze deletion can only be used on cloze note types” error typically occurs when there’s a mismatch between note types or when you’re trying to use cloze formatting on a non-cloze note type.

Visual examples of your specific issues would definitely help us provide more targeted assistance. Please upload those screenshots, and we can better understand what’s happening with your ZANKI cards.

i have uploaded them

I see the screenshots you’ve uploaded. Thank you for providing these visuals. Based on what you’ve shared, you’re experiencing a serious issue with your Anki database that’s preventing you from accessing your ZANKI cards properly, showing blank cards, and giving you cloze deletion errors.

Let me search for more specific information that might help resolve your issue:

Thank you for uploading those screenshots. I can see you’re experiencing database inconsistency errors with your Anki collection, which is preventing you from properly accessing your ZANKI cards.

Based on the error messages shown in your screenshots, here’s what I recommend:

First, try these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Create a backup of your collection
Make sure you have a backup of your Anki collection before proceeding with any fixes.

  2. Force a one-way sync
    Since you’re encountering sync conflicts:

    • Close Anki
    • Reopen Anki
    • When you sync, you’ll likely be asked whether to “Upload” or “Download”
    • Choose the option that preserves your most recent work (if you made changes on your computer, choose “Upload”; if your AnkiWeb version is more complete, choose “Download”)
  3. Run Check Database again
After syncing, try running Tools > Check Database again to see if the issues have been resolved.

  4. Restart Anki in safe mode
Hold down the Shift key while starting Anki to disable add-ons temporarily, which can sometimes cause database issues.

For the specific “cloze deletion” error:

This typically happens when you’re trying to add cloze formatting (like {{c1::text}}) to a non-cloze note type. Make sure you’re using the appropriate note type for your cards.

If you continue experiencing issues after trying these steps, you might need to:

  • Check if your Anki database files are corrupted
  • Consider restoring from a backup
  • Export your important decks as .apkg files for safekeeping

I understand you have an exam next week, so this is urgent. These steps should help you recover access to your ZANKI cards. Let me know if you need more specific guidance on any of these steps.

after closing and re-opening anki, the issue is still the same. you can see the “sync” part is showing red. when i try to sync, whether it is upload or downlad, the issue would still be the same, i tried and i can’t restore it. it is possible to delete the cards i made? maybe that could help. plus i still am not able to see the questions and answers of the cards

Hello,

Just to confirm, you have tried hitting sync, and both ‘upload’ and ‘download’ and the issue persists?

Unfortunately database errors are going to be a bit out of my wheelhouse, as that’s more Anki-related than AnkiHub-related. It’s possible this is a more compex issue than I can immediately help with, and we may have to direct you to a developer or the official Anki forums.

But, let’s see what we can do. The first thing I would recommend that you try is to restore from a backup: How to Restore From Backup

Backups should be time-stamped, so you can select from whatever day, or time, to which you’d like to restore your collection (ideally before the error occurred).

Give that a shot and let me know how you fare.

okay my cards are now fine and they all seem okay but i’m not able to sync
when i try to sync it shows ankihub sync cancelled

Hmm, give this a shot:

okay it works fine now. thank you sooo much!!! really thank you.
