Invalid login credentials -anki

Hi,
I purchased an AnkiHub subscription and can log in on the website,
but the AnkiHub add-on in Anki keeps saying “invalid login credentials”.
I’m on Anki 25+, no VPN, password reset already tried.
Could you please reset my AnkiHub token / account auth?

This is almost always a sync/auth mismatch between AnkiHub and Anki, not something we can fix by “resetting” tokens manually from the forum. You can usually solve it yourself with these steps:

  1. Confirm you’re using your AnkiHub login (not AnkiWeb)

    • AnkiHub and AnkiWeb are separate services.
    • In the add‑on, make sure the email + password are exactly the ones you use at https://ankihub.net (where your subscription works).
  2. Log out fully in the add‑on and log back in

    • In Anki Desktop, go to Tools → Add-ons → AnkiHub → Config / Settings (or the AnkiHub menu if you see it).
    • Find the Logout / Sign out option and confirm.
    • Fully restart Anki.
    • Then open AnkiHub again in Anki and log in manually (don’t rely on a password manager autofill if it might be inserting the wrong account).
  3. Check for typos / special characters

    • Copy–paste your email from a plain text editor into the login field to avoid hidden spaces.
    • If your password has unusual characters, you already tried a reset, but try setting a simple temporary password on the AnkiHub website and use that to test login in Anki.
  4. Check AnkiHub add‑on & Anki versions

    • You wrote you’re on Anki 25+; make sure:
      • Anki is one of the versions supported by the current AnkiHub add‑on (check the add‑on page or the pinned “installation” topic).
      • The AnkiHub add‑on is up to date (remove it, restart Anki, and reinstall from the official code if needed).
  5. Network checks

    • You’re not using a VPN, which is good.
    • Also check:
      • No strict firewall/antivirus blocking Anki.
      • If on a work/school network, try from a home or mobile hotspot once.

If it still says “invalid login credentials”

Because we don’t have access to account controls from here, we can’t directly reset your token. Instead:

  1. Please reply in your topic with:

    • Confirmation that:
      • You can log in at https://ankihub.net with the same email/password you’re using in Anki.
      • You’ve tried the full logout → restart Anki → login flow above.
    • Your:
      • Operating system (Windows/macOS/Linux)
      • Exact Anki version (from Help → About Anki)
      • AnkiHub add‑on version (from Tools → Add-ons → AnkiHub)
  2. Then contact AnkiHub support directly through:

    • The Help/Support link in the AnkiHub web app, or
    • The official email/form linked there.

They can then:

  • Check your account on the backend,
  • Manually invalidate existing tokens if needed,
  • And see if there’s any auth‑related error specific to your account.

If you post the details above here, I can also help you rule out any configuration issues while you wait for staff to look at your account.

Hi,

I can confirm the following:
– I can log in successfully at https://ankihub.net with this email/password
– I reset my password and tested with a simple password
– I fully logged out of the AnkiHub add-on, restarted Anki, and logged in manually
– No VPN, no school/work network

My details:
– OS: macOS
– Anki version: 25.02.7
– AnkiHub add-on: latest (installed via official code 1322529746)

The add-on still reports “invalid login credentials”.

Could you please check my account on the backend and invalidate/reset any existing auth tokens or investigate an auth issue tied to my account?

Thank you.

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

Just to make sure I’m on the same page, can you share a screenshot of what you’re logging into and the error message that you’re receiving?

Additionally, can you confirm for me if you’re using your email, or username, to login and which specifically it is?

Hi,

I’ve attached a screenshot of the AnkiHub login dialog inside Anki, along with the error message I receive after clicking “Sign in”.

I am logging in using my email address (not a username).
This is the same email I use to log in successfully on the AnkiHub website.

Please let me know if you need any additional information.

Gotcha, thanks for that.

Just to be diligent, let’s cover a couple of things:

  • Can you confirm for me the email address you’re using to log in? Just to make triple sure on my end? Case-sensitivity is a thing, FWIW.
  • Can you try using your AnkiHub username, rather than the email address?

I don’t have a way to reset your token, per se, though double-checking the above will give me a better idea of the root issue and then hopefully I should be able to proceed to next steps and get you squared away :mending_heart:

worked with the username :raising_hands: thank you!
