As I wrote in the title, the note type IO-one by one is not working for my AnkiHub Deck (UCAT_Y2) but when I change the note type of a card from my deck to another IO-one by one note type, it works. I have the add-ons Closet For Anki and AnKing Note Types already installed. So I am not sure where is the problem exactly. The problem is only with my AnkiHub deck but not with local cards and local deck.
Thank you for trying to help and sorry for the inconvience.

Hi Excel,
I understand you’re having issues with the IO-one by one note type in your AnkiHub deck (UCAT_Y2). Based on your description, this seems to be related to note type compatibility with AnkiHub.
Likely Cause of the Problem
When using AnkiHub decks, you need to use the specific AnkiHub-compatible note types created for that deck. Each AnkiHub deck uses custom note types (usually marked with the username and deck name in brackets).
The “IO-one by one” note type from another deck works for you, but the one in your AnkiHub deck doesn’t. This suggests there might be some compatibility issues between your specific AnkiHub deck’s version of the note type and the Closet For Anki add-on.
Solutions to Try
Check the note type being used:
Right-click on a card in your AnkiHub deck
Click “Info” to see what note type it’s using
Make sure it’s using the AnkiHub-compatible version for your UCAT_Y2 deck
Use the correct AnkiHub note type:
For the card that isn’t working, try changing its note type
Right-click on the card → Notes → Change Note Type
Select the AnkiHub-compatible version of IO-one by one
Verify add-on compatibility:
While you have Closet For Anki and AnKing Note Types installed, make sure they’re up to date
Try temporarily disabling other add-ons to check for conflicts
Check for specific IO implementation:
The working IO-one by one note type might have different JavaScript or HTML implementation than the one in your AnkiHub deck
If these steps don’t resolve the issue, you might want to reach out to the UCAT_Y2 deck maintainer directly for help with their specific implementation of the IO note type.
Let me know if any of these suggestions help or if you need further assistance!
I’ll help you troubleshoot this issue since you’re the deck maintainer. Let me gather more information about Image Occlusion compatibility with AnkiHub.

Hi Excel,
I understand your frustration as the deck maintainer trying to resolve this issue with the IO-one by one note type in your UCAT_Y2 deck. Since you’ve already tried the basic troubleshooting steps, let’s dig deeper into some potential solutions:
Possible Solutions for IO-one by one Issues
Check the Closet for Anki implementation:
The IO-one by one note type heavily relies on the Closet for Anki add-on
Make sure your Closet for Anki add-on is the latest version
There might be specific JavaScript settings in the note type that need adjustment
Compare with working note type:
Since you mentioned that other IO-one by one note types work, export a card with the working note type
Compare the HTML/JavaScript implementation between the working and non-working versions
Look specifically at the template code and styling differences
Rebuild the note type:
Create a new IO-one by one note type from scratch in your AnkiHub deck
Copy the template code, styling, and fields from the working version
Update your deck to use this new note type
Check for add-on conflicts:
Try temporarily disabling all add-ons except AnkiHub and Closet for Anki
Restart Anki in safe mode (hold shift while starting) and then enable only the essential add-ons
Consider AnkiHub note type limitations:
AnkiHub has specific requirements for compatible note types
The IO-one by one might need modifications to work properly with AnkiHub’s syncing system
If you’re still facing issues after trying these solutions, it might be worth reaching out to the AnkiHub support team directly for more specialized assistance, as this appears to be a complex issue at the intersection of AnkiHub compatibility and the Image Occlusion implementation.
Would you be able to share more details about the specific error messages you’re seeing or exactly how the note type is failing? That might help narrow down the solution.
Great news that your issue has been resolved, Excel!
What Happened
It seems the “Update Note Types” option was the key to fixing your IO-one by one note type issue with your AnkiHub deck. This is actually a common solution when there are discrepancies between note type implementations in AnkiHub decks.
Why This Works
When you click “Update Note Types” in the AnkiHub add-on, it essentially synchronizes and publishes your local note type changes to the AnkiHub server. This ensures that:
The proper template code for IO-one by one is applied
Any custom JavaScript (including Closet for Anki dependencies) is properly configured
The note type becomes fully compatible with AnkiHub’s syncing system
For Future Reference
If you make any further changes to your note types or encounter similar issues, here’s the proper procedure to update note types on AnkiHub:
Go to the AnkiHub add-on
Click on “Deck Management”
Select your UCAT_Y2 deck
Go down to “Note Types” section
Click “Publish style/template updates”
Confirm when prompted
This will ensure that all your note type styling, JavaScript functionality, and template changes are properly synchronized with AnkiHub.
I’m glad you found the solution! If you have any other issues with your AnkiHub deck or note types in the future, don’t hesitate to ask.
The IO-one by one function is only supported for the note type distributed in the Step Deck and in the AnKing notetypes add-on. The occlusion button is shown for your note type simply because it has the same name as the official version, but your notetype is based on an older version before we applied many fixes and stopped relying on the Closet add-on. To fix the issue properly, you need to copy any IO-related code from the latest official note type to your note type and use the update button in Deck Management.
