It says deck completed after I synced two devices

I resubscribed to ankihub and updated my AnKing deck. I was doing flashcards on my laptop and on my phone and when I synced the data on both devices, I suddenly have zero availble cards and it says:

“Congratulations! You have finished this deck for now.

There are more new cards available, but the daily limit has been reached. You can increase the limit in the options, but please bear in mind that the more new cards you introduce, the higher your short-term review workload will become.

If you wish to study outside of the regular schedule, you can use the ⁨[custom study](javascript:bridgeCommand'customStudy')⁩ feature.”

I have only done 300 cards so far so I know that cannot be true. I reseted all the cards in the browse option too but there’s no change. I don’t even care about my progress at this point, I just want to be able to use the deck. How do I fix it?

Thanks for posting! It looks like you’ve started a topic in the Support category but haven’t yet described your actual issue beyond the title.

From your title “It says deck completed after I synced two devices”, it sounds like:

  • You synced Anki/AnkiHub between two devices, and
  • Now one (or both) devices show the deck as completed / no cards to study even though you expect more cards.

To help you properly, could you please add the following details?

  1. Devices & versions

    • Which devices are you using? (e.g., Windows, macOS, AnkiMobile on iOS, AnkiDroid on Android)
    • Anki version on each device (from Help → About or settings).
    • AnkiHub add-on version on your computer (from Tools → Add-ons).
  2. What exactly you see

    • On each device, what does the deck show?
      • e.g., “0 new, 0 learning, 0 review” at the top?
    • Is Anki showing “Congratulations! You have finished this deck for now”?
    • Screenshots of the deck overview and the browser filtered to that deck would be very helpful.
  3. AnkiHub specifics

    • Is this an AnkiHub‑shared deck? If so, which one?
    • Did you recently:
      • Change new card limits or review limits?
      • Suspend/bury cards?
      • Change the deck options group?
  4. Steps that led to the problem

    • What did you do right before syncing the two devices?
(e.g., reviewed on phone → synced → opened desktop → AnkiHub sync → AnkiWeb sync, etc.)

Once you provide that, I can suggest targeted steps—likely along the lines of:

  • Checking whether there are actually unsuspended cards left in that deck via the Browser.
  • Confirming that AnkiWeb sync and AnkiHub sync both completed and in which order.
  • Verifying your deck options (new/review limits) and suspension status of cards.

Please reply with those details and, if possible, screenshots; then I can walk you through fixing the “deck completed” issue step by step.

  1. I’m using macOS and an iPhone (IOS)

  2. Screenshots:

  1. this is anking deck. I recently resubscribed to ankihub after a long hiatus.

  2. i synced laptop and then i synced my phone.

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

It’s hard to say with any certainty, as I don’t have a way to view the state, or history, of your local collection at all, though if I had to guess you’re seeing the ‘congratulations’ screen as you’ve studied all of the cards that are currently unsuspended to be studied.

The short version is that if you would like to study more cards, you’d likely want to have them unsuspended. Neither Anki, nor AnkiHub, has any control over card suspension state, and neither has an automated way to suspend, or unsuspend cards, so it’s unlikely to have stemmed from either of those inherently. It may be that in syncing between devices you’ve overwritten your progress in some way, but that’s just a hunch and I don’t have a way to confirm or investigate that

Beyond that, it’s hard to say much with any certainty. If you’ve only studied 300 cards it may also be that you don’t have any more cards due for today, or it could be for a handful of other reasons. But, either way if you’d like to study more cards you’ll want to unsuspend more cards.

If you would like to unsuspend more cards this tutorial walks you through how to do that: How to Get Started Studying

If you would like to restore from a previous backup, this tutorial walk you through how to do that: How to Restore From Backup

Please let me know if that answers your question, and if there’s anything else I can help with.
