Just a few missing media files

Many times when I sync, I get almost all the media files, but just miss a few. For example, today, I am missing 7, such as Anki ID 1472072126853. When I look it up, I see the missing one is a First Aid graphic, so I guess it was removed 2/2 copyright restrictions, and a blank was left in its place to remind someone to find a replacement. But others, like Anki ID 1480550383672 are missing an open source graphic.

My guess is that sometimes its intentional by the deck maintainers (the first example) and sometimes its not intentional by the deck maintainers (the second example), and often its the user error on syncing incorrectly (has happened to me, but not this time I think). To check if the latter, it takes time away from pressing the spacebar to check for user error on this amazingly good, but also amazingly complex, system that your team has created.

Can I suggest that instead of showing up as a “missing media file”, intentional deletions without replacements use a stub media be created that says something like “needs open source replacement.png”? That way it won’t trigger errors for users, but maintainers can search for it and find a replacement. If I’m just way off base and doing something wrong, can you tell me what I’m doing wrong?

Hello,

I have fixed nid:1480550383672. Thank you so much for alerting us!

Regarding nid:1472072126853, I see the first aid image, so this has to do with your media package, we do not provide this however.

If you see any other open source image that is not viewable/not available, please reply to this thread and I can take care of it.

In this case, it was maintainer error as you stated, we will try our best to prevent this from happening

First, amazingly fast response time. Thanks.

Second, for nid:1472072126853 's First Aid image, how do I get a legal image? When I look remotely on AnkiHub it does not appear (as well as when I look locally on my downloaded Anki, obviously). I own FIrst Aid (the physical book) and I am a lifetime member of AnkiHub. Is there something else I need to purchase or download?

Haha thanks! Happy to help

Regarding First Aid images, please see this post:

First Aid does not provide images for this deck, they were unwilling to work with us in the past therefore there is no way to obtain these images unless you have a prior media package

I hope this answers your question

How is it possible that your support responds in seconds on a weekend? That’s faster than most residents respond to a page. Take the page first; I’ll wait

A thought on First Aid’s unwillingness to work with AnKing: connect with the illustrators KenHub used and produce better graphics of the same concept.
