Missing and unused media on AnKing MCAT

I just subscribed to the AnKing MCAT deck and synchronized the free deck I installed on Reddit with the one I subscribed to on AnkiHub. I am seeing a bunch of unused and missing media in the “Tools” tab. Some cards are missing images, and instead little icons and text replacing the images show up. I have attached a screenshot below.

Can anyone help me with this? I tried unsubscribing and resubscribing, but that did not help. If it helps, I received this error message when I first synchronized the decks.

You must click on “Upload to AnkiWeb”

Also, try this:

Please try resetting your local changes. To do this:

Go to browse in your Anki → at the top click on ankihub addon tab → press reset all local changes

This will restore everything to what AnkiHub has unless you have specifically protected those fields

Also allow some time for the pictures to download as this may take some time if you are installing the deck for the first time

Is there a way to fix this without resetting all local changes? I have added cards to the deck I would like to keep.

Resetting local changes will not remove new cards you have added

Alright, thanks. I tried that and the media is still missing. Didn’t see the cards show the images earlier today when I tried the same thing as well. I have tried unsubscribing, subscribing, and waiting multime times but I still see the same media missing on the same cards.

I am not quite sure why this is happening. Are these missing images copyrighted and that is why I can’t see them?

It actually seems like this missing media comes from the AnkiHub version of the deck. I couldn’t find the images that were missing in the free deck I installed from Reddit. Is there any way to upload the missing media into my deck from somewhere on AnkiHub?

Do your old cards have Ankihub ID’s? Sometimes the ID’s do not match so the images do not make it in. Also has the media sync been completed?

I have never used the MCAT deck, but I will download, check it, and follow up!

I am unsure how to check if the media sync has been completed. I tried syncing multiple times, and at the end under the “AnkiHub” tab it says “Media Sync: Idle.”

I tried doing what was suggested in this Reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/medicalschoolanki/comments/165jyw0/missing_file_media_after_subscribing_to_the/ (reimporting the media from the free deck that is available on the pinned post on r/AnkiMCAT). The media that is missing in my deck was not present in the media file for this free version - I checked by searching up the .jpg, .png, etc. file names that are shown on the cards missing the images. What is also interesting to me is that the person in this Reddit post, who also first downloaded the free version of the AnKing deck and then upgraded it with an AnkiHub subscription, has ~20k media files shown under “Check Media.” I only have ~3k.

It seems like the AnkiHub ID’s match because I was able to click the link that took me to the AnkiHub website showing the relevant cards.

Thank you for your help!

Hey, not that I can help, but I’m hoping your post will gain more attention… I’m having the same issues, and I’m sure others are too.

  1. Media Sync: Idle
  2. Check Media pop-up says:

Trash folder: ⁨⁨13545⁊ files, ⁨1272.33⁊MB⁊
Missing files: ⁨85⁊
Unused files: ⁨2708⁊

I don’t get it. I followed all the instructions given, just like you. Really hoping someone can help!

How many cards are you missing images on? Can you provide some of their note ID’s so we can investigate

Any update on this? Thanks!

I was missing around as many as @premedamy is. I do not have the specific ID’s because I am afriad to reinstall the deck from AnkiHub as I had a hard time deleting everything and fully restoring to a backup. However, I remember many of the cards were from the “Endocrine System” and “Respiratory System” subtags within the “Kaplan” tag. One of the cards had a .jpg file relating to Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.

@Dam_Doc I found the issue. It looks like it doesn’t have the ImageReady tag on it. can you make sure cards that have the media ready have the ImageReady tags?

@Dam_Doc @Ahmed7 I was able to quickly find them doing a search like this:
("note:AnKingMCAT (AnKing-MCAT / AnKingMed)" Extra:*img*) -tag:AnkiHub\_ImageReady::Extra credit Just need to go through and make sure those ones are all good and then add the tag.

Looks like only ~170 cards that need image replacements finished and then the whole deck should be replaced!

This issue has now been fixed thanks to @jakub.f

Please try resetting your local changes. To do this:

Go to browse in your Anki → at the top click on ankihub addon tab → press reset all local changes

This will restore everything to what AnkiHub has unless you have specifically protected those fields

You should now be able to see the images that have been replaced as part of the image replacement project
