Missing Images - Media Sync: Idle?

Hi, I’m having the same issue - none of my images have ever shown across any cards since downloading the deck last month. I unsubscribed and re-downloaded the deck 2 times.

In another thread, it recommended reset all local changes in the AnkiHub tab, but I don’t see that option. “Media Sync: Idle” shows up in the fourth line though, wondering if this is the reason none of the images appear? But it doesn’t allow me to change from “idle” when I clikc it (see screenshot)

When I click Tools > Check Media, it says “The following files are referenced by cards, but were not found in the media folder:” (then lists every png file name - see screenshot)

Would love to benefit from this deck with the photos if anyone knows how to fix this so the deck includes all the photos. This is my first time using Anki!

I read somewhere here that we should upgrade to the newest Anki.
I was on Anki 2.1.56, so I moved that app to the trash and installed the newest Qt6 (for MacOS 11+).
However, Anki noted that some add on’s may not work on Qt6 - does this include Anki Hub?
The images still do not show on the cards.
Should I instead download the Qt5 (for MacOS 10.13.4+)?

Below is the information on Qt5 vs Qt6 newest Anki versions:

Qt5 vs. Qt6

Recent Anki versions come in separate Qt5 and Qt6 variants. The Qt6 version is recommended for most users.

Advantages of the Qt6 version:

  • Various bugfixes, including things like better support for less common languages.
  • Very large images load faster than the Qt5 version.
  • Security updates. Support for the Qt5 library was discontinued in Nov 2020, meaning that any security flaws discovered since then will remain unfixed.
  • Some users experience freezes when using a custom shortcut key to switch input languages in Qt5.

Disadvantages of the Qt6 version:

  • Some add-ons currently only work with the Qt5 version.

Hello,

Yes you should use the updated version of Anki as 2.1.56 is pretty old.

The AnkiHub add-on will work on the newest versions.

After opening up the new version of Anki, do the following:

Go to browse in your Anki → at the top click on the ankihub addon tab → press reset all local changes

Tutorial: Resetting Local Changes

Hi, I’ve already updated to Anki Version ⁨24.06.3 (d678e393)⁩.
I’ve also reset all local changes 3x.
The images continue to not appear.

Is there a way to change “media sync” from idle to install?
Also, I saw somewhere to unsubscribe and re-subscribe, but are there instructions to do so properly?
These 2 options are the only things I can think of.

Hello,

Just to make sure: after updating to the latest Anki have you checked to make sure that all of your addons are up to date?

Yes, I’ve checked that all the addons are up to date.
