Hello,

What fields are the images missing in?

Hi, so when I click check media, it tells me theres only 21 missing files (attached ss)

, but when I open the deck to go through the cards all the cards show a missing image like this

The ‘missing files’ counter is going to be off, for a few reasons. Virtually everyone has a non-zero value there, even if they are not necessarily missing any media.

But, that being said, I can see from the image you shared that you do have some media that should be, and is not, displaying appropriately. Let’s see if we can’t get that fixed for you.

We’ll try the likeliest solution first: Resetting Local Changes

Give that a shot and let me know how/if that does the trick for you, and we’ll go from there.

Hey, I just tried this again and its still not working

This appears to be a bug preventing some files from being downloaded. We got some reports of it and will work on it soon.

I am having a similar issue, have you made any headway in solving this problem?

Just to check you’re facing the same issue, can you do this:

  1. Go to an AnKing note with a missing image in the Anki browser.
  2. Right-click and use the AnkiHub: Copy AnkiHub Note ID to clipboard action, and paste it here. Also let me know the field where the missing image is in.

Hi there, I’m also having this issue. For example
AnkiHub Note ID: 9f3ba112-2ed2-4a16-9464-b6c2ce04f027 on my anki browser I am not loading the images in the “additional resources” field. However, when I view this image on ankihub I see that there are associated images with this card that should be available with a regular subscription to the deck. Thanks for looking into this!

Hello

There are a couple of things it could be, but let’s start with the most likely solutions as shared above in the thread:

  • First, check your Anki version number by clicking Anki - About Anki from your top menu bar. If it’s not 25.02 you’ll want to update to the latest version which can always be downloaded at the official Anki website (https://apps.ankiweb.net/).
  • Next, so long as you have an active AnkiHub membership, and are subscribed to the deck in question, follow the instructions provided in this tutorial: Resetting Local Changes

Once that’s done, give it about a minute or so and see what’s what. If that does the trick, great, and if not we’ll keep digging.

Hi, I am also having the same issue, I have the latest version & I’ve reset local changes but it hasn’t worked.

Hi there, Confirmed that my Anki version is the most up to date! I also Reset Local Changes following the tutorial with no luck. I did have a thought that maybe I had a blocked ‘special field’, since with some cards I have typed notes into the “Extra” field. However, I removed that as a protected field on the special fields add-on with no luck (also tried resetting local changes/syncing again). For example, with the card “bbc63e34-62be-48b5-847b-695d561ed3bd” (screenshot below), on the AnkiHub page, there is text in Extra, and images in both the Sketchy and Sketchy 2 fields that I’m not seeing. I do see that on AnkiHub, two of the additional resources images are not loading, but I’m showing three (must be the text not loading in there either?). I’ve only been studying this deck for a few days, so if you would recommend some sort of major reset I’m open to that as well. Thanks for your help!

Gotcha, let’s try to break it down bit-by-bit:

The Special Fields add-on is pretty dated at this point, and you don’t really need it. I would recommend just deleting it as this functionality was long-ago folded into the AnkiHub add-on: Managing Protected Fields

From here, let’s do a couple of things to make sure everything is in its right place:

First, if you don’t already have it I’ll encourage you to install this addon which will make sure that your note types are completely up to date: https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/952691989

Once you’ve installed that, go ahead and restart Anki. Upon restarting you should be prompted to update your note types; follow through with those dialogues and prompts and update your note types, then restart Anki again.

Once you’re there, click on ‘AnKing Note Types’ here:

From the resulting screen, make sure that the ‘update notetypes’ button is grayed out:

If it’s grayed out, you’re good. If it’s not, update again and restart Anki (sometimes it takes two rounds)

Once you’ve done all that, go ahead and reset local changes again: Resetting Local Changes

This method has done the trick for a goodly number of people so I’m hoping it will also do the trick for you. If it does, fantastic, and if it doesn’t we’ll keep digging until we can get you squared away.

Hello,

I actually wasn’t prompted to make any updates to my note types after installing that add on. I still reset my local changes again, and I’m still having the same exact issue. :frowning:

And what happened when you followed this portion?

So when I added this add-on, and looked at it, “Update Notetypes” was grayed out. I restarted the app but wasn’t prompted to make any changes. Also redid the step to reset local changes without success.

Also what is very bizarre, is that when I look at the “extra” field for example under browse, there are no notes information in this field. Which is not consistent of course with notes from Anki Hub.

At least for this particular card, if you look on AnkiHub there isn’t an image stored in the ‘Additional Resources’ field:

So at least in this particular case there isn’t any media missing from your collection.

As for Sketchy, I show that you have that field protected on AnkiHub which may be why there is no media being synced to that field. This field can be unprotected using the tutorial linked above

Give that a shot and let me know where you land and we’ll go from there.

Thats it!!! I have no idea how those fields became protected on AnkiHub, but that was the fix! Amazing, THANK YOU!!
