Hello,
When did the tags disappear?
Yesterday after syncing with Ankihub I think 20 some thousand cards were updated and it was wiped.
I am having the same issue because I forgot to include some newer tags in “protected data” on AnkiHub. The tags are present when I open up a backup from a few days ago, but I have studied hundreds of cards in the days since that backup. Is there a way to import my tags from a backup while not losing my progress?
Were the cards deleted? or the tags deleted?
The protected tags field is case sensitive, was the tag in Anki exactly “#UNMSOM”? If so, then it could be a bug
@are006 I’m not 100% if this will solve the issue but if you restore from a backup, you can export that tag using this add-on: https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/960563361
Then you can try reimporting that tag when you load your current version of Anki

Thank you for your question. I understand you’re concerned about recovering your personal tags that were deleted after updating AnKing, while also preserving your recent study progress. Let’s address this issue step by step.
First, it’s important to note that there is a way to recover deleted tags in AnkiHub without losing your recent progress. The method involves resetting your local changes, which should restore your tags without affecting your study history.
Here’s how you can do this:
This process should restore everything to what AnkiHub has, including your previously deleted tags, unless those specific fields were protected.
However, before you proceed, please consider the following:
Backup: Although this method should be safe, it’s always a good idea to create a backup of your current Anki collection before making significant changes.
Protected Data: After recovering your tags, make sure to immediately add them to the “protected data” on AnkiHub to prevent this from happening again in the future.
Selective Reset: If you’re concerned about resetting the entire deck, you might want to consider only resetting the specific notes or tag groups that were affected. This can be done through the AnkiHub menu in the Browse window as well.
Study Progress: This method should not affect your study progress or scheduling information, as those are typically stored separately from the note content and tags.
If you’re still unsure or if this method doesn’t work for your specific situation, I recommend reaching out to the AnkiHub support team directly through the community forum. They might be able to provide more tailored advice or alternative solutions for your specific case.
Remember, in the future, regularly updating your protected data on AnkiHub can help prevent accidental deletions of personal tags during updates.
It was the tags on the cards that have been removed. The tags had been protected matching case sensitive for a month or two without issue. So maybe it’s s bug

@abdo.nh worth adding to Jira? I’ve seen this happen a handful of times randomly with some users lecture note fields and tags, but it hasn’t been a strict pattern
Here is the file name
ankihub_addon_debug_info_cc68a_1734891215.zip
Let’s add it to Jira. Was not able to find anything from the logs.
