When I suggest changes to notes after updating the tags, it fails to submit the suggestion. Any idea how to fix this? I have tried selecting a different reason for the update including both āNew Tagsā and āUpdated Tagsā but it always fails.

Thanks for the detailed screenshotāthat helps.
A few things to check/try, since all notes are failing to submit:
-
Update to the latest AnkiHub addāon + restart Anki
- In Anki:
Tools ā Add-ons ā Check for Updates. - Restart Anki completely and try the bulk suggestion again.
- In Anki:
-
Confirm youāre connected to the correct deck as maintainer
- Open AnkiHub addāon ā click the deck ā make sure:
- Youāre logged into the correct AnkiHub account.
- You see maintainer/admin permissions for this deck.
- If you recently became a maintainer, try
AnkiHub ā Sync Deckonce before making suggestions.
- Open AnkiHub addāon ā click the deck ā make sure:
-
Try a very small test batch
- Select 1ā2 notes whose tags you changed.
- Use AnkiHub ā Suggest changes for selected notes.
- Note whether they still show as āFailed to submit suggestionsā or if some go through.
-
Check for any error popup / log
- Right after running the suggestion, see if any other window with an error appears behind the main Anki window.
- If nothing shows, please:
- Go to
Tools ā Add-ons ā AnkiHub ā View Files⦠- Look for a file called something like
ankiwebview.logorankihub.log.
If you can, attach that file or copy any recent error lines into this thread (redacting personal info).
- Go to
-
Clarify exactly what changed
- Did you:
- Only add/remove tags, or
- Also change fields/content, or
- Change note type / move notes between decks?
- Sometimes failed submissions are due to conflicts (e.g., the note was deleted/changed upstream).
- Did you:
Since the dialog just lists note IDs without the underlying error, itās hard to see whatās blocking the submission. If you can:
- Share your Anki version, AnkiHub addāon version, and
- Whether this is an official AnkiHub deck and your role on it,
I can better narrow down whether this is a permissions issue, a bug in the current AnkiHub version, or something about these specific notes.
If after the above steps every suggestion still fails, this is likely a bug. In that case, please reply with:
- The info above (versions, deck link/ID, your role),
- A screenshot of the AnkiHub addāon window showing deck status,
- Whether the 99 note IDs correspond to all notes you edited or just some of them.
That should give the AnkiHub team enough to reproduce and fix it.
Hello,
I see that you have already made some bulk suggestions for changing tags, and it looks like those went through successfully, correct?
Could you please provide a bit more context about what you were doing when this problem started?
Also, could you check AnkiHub to see if the changes were actually implemented, despite the error message you received?
In your Anki, do you see any of these notes with AnkiHub ID pending?
The more context you can provide, the better we can assist you.
To help us investigate this further, could you please upload your logs?
Hereās how:
- In the Anki app, navigate to the menu:
AnkiHub > Help > Upload Logs. - A filename will be shown in a confirmation pop-up. Please copy and paste that filename here for us.
Hi Marcos,
Thanks for your help.
I do not see the tags that I added in my Anki on the AnkiHub deck. For example, this card (Anki ID: 1771383372585) should also have Mastering_Radiology::Physics::09_Nuclear_Medicine. I added it after this card was submitted as new and it is one of the cards that fails to update when I attempt to upload new/updated tags.
And yes, all of these cards have an ID pending in the AnkiHub ID column. Is there a fix for this?
Upload log filename: ankihub_addon_logs_drradiology_1771438410.log
Edit: I used the Browser search to see how many cards donāt have note IDs and itās 2174. How can I fix this issue?
Most of the suggestions failed with this error:
A deck canāt contain multiple notes with the same anki_id.
These notes showing under ID Pending suggests a local problem. I assume the Suggest button is labeled āSuggest a new noteā in the editor for note 1771383372585? Any difference if you trigger a sync from AnkiHub > Sync with AnkiHub?
Seems like syncing with AnkiHub worked. But I usually avoid doing this as it sometimes overwrites some of changes I have made that I missed when uploading changes. Any way to prevent AnkiHub from overwriting MY deck since Iām the maintainer?
You can protect all fields to avoid unintended edits: Can I protect my own edits when subscribing to the AnKing Step Deck?
