Unable to download ankihub deck (Anking MCAT)

I followed the instructions. I clicked sync to install the Anking MCAT deck and I get this window pop up. However, when I fill it out, it doesn’t allow me to confirm and close. I can’t even get past this stage to install the deck.

I’m already logged in too.

How can I progress from here?

I’m on anki v24.11. This is the most updated version I can update to.

Hi there! It looks like you’re having trouble with the authentication window while trying to download the AnKing MCAT deck from AnkiHub. Based on your screenshots, I can see the issue is with the AnkiWeb authentication dialog that appears during the sync process.

The Issue

The problem appears to be that you’re already logged into AnkiHub, but Anki is asking you to authenticate with AnkiWeb (which is a separate service) during the sync process. This is a normal part of installing an AnkiHub deck.

How to Fix This

Here are some steps to resolve this issue:

  1. Make sure your AnkiWeb credentials are correct:

    • The authentication window is asking for your AnkiWeb credentials (not AnkiHub)
    • Ensure you’re using the correct username and password for AnkiWeb
  2. If you can’t get past this dialog:

    • Try restarting Anki completely
    • Try logging out of AnkiWeb and logging back in separately at ankiweb.net first
  3. If you’re unsure about your AnkiWeb password:

  4. After successfully syncing:

    • You’ll likely get a prompt asking whether to “Upload to AnkiWeb” or “Download from AnkiWeb”
    • Since you’re installing a new deck, you should select Upload to AnkiWeb

Remember that AnkiHub and AnkiWeb are separate services, so you need accounts for both - AnkiHub for accessing shared decks and AnkiWeb for syncing across devices.

If you continue to experience issues, please try checking if your AnkiWeb email address needs to be confirmed, as this can sometimes cause sync failures.

Hello

It could be a few things, but let’s tackle the most likely options roughly in order:

First, close Anki and restart Anki by holding down the Shift key (this will load Anki in Safe Mode). From here, click on the top menu bar: Anki - About Anki.

See what your version number is. If it’s anything other than 25.02 you’ll want to update: https://apps.ankiweb.net/

If you’re not able to upgrade beyond 24.11 that may present some issues, as older versions of Anki will necessary fall out of support for more updated add-ons. I’m not sure if I can make any guarantees there, as 24.11 is known to cause at least some issues with a number of add-ons (including the AnkiHub add-on)

Give that a shot and let me know how you fare, and we’ll go from there.
