Hello, I am hesitant to subscribe and start using the Anking v12 deck with updates. I have moved some cards into different decks and have been adding clozes to existing cards, etc. over the pat 1.5 years of school. I understand that I can protect the fields such as “extra”, “sketchy” etc., but after watching a video from Anking on youtube, I got the impression that because I have moved cards from their original decks that if I were to try and update to the new v12 decks that it would mess alot of things up. I’m curious if anyone has any clarification on how these sorts of things will be worked out before I subscribe and pay money? thanks!

If you moved cards around, that’s fine, they will stay where they are and it will not mess anything up.
If you have created new clozes, you must protect the text field of those cards in order for you not to lose the new clozes.
You can do so by clicking right click on the card → AnkiHub protect → click on text
Anki also saves backups so if anything were to go wrong, you can restore from a backup. You can see how to do so here:

Also, I appreciated your point about protecting any new clozes on those cards. Is there any way to identify new clozes and which cards those were made on? I’m guessing that will sort of just be a lost cause for me at this point and they will be lost. Moving forward I will probably just tag any cards I make additional clozes on to protect those text fields.
Anyone have any ideas on how to retroactively find those anking cards I might have added clozes to?

Regarding finding cards that you have modified. I am not 100% sure this would work but you can potentially use this option “date modified”
Also, you can try using “created”, Im assuming if you made a new cloze it would show up as being made 2023 even if a card was made 2017 for example

Yes, I was able to find those additional clozes I made in the browser by selecting “created” with a right click on that category display bar and then using the date I started using anking as my reference. Thank you so much!
