Reading: Why is my deck missing images?

Hi there! It sounds like you’re having an issue with seeing the new images and updates from Update 17 despite syncing with AnkiHub. Let me help you troubleshoot this issue.

Possible Solutions:

  1. Check your media sync status
Make sure your media has finished downloading completely:

    • Open Anki
    • Click on the AnkiHub addon at the top of the screen
    • Check what the media sync status says
    • If it says “Downloading”, you’ll need to wait until it says “Idle” before you can see the media
    • Note: Media sync can take up to 60 minutes depending on your internet connection
  2. Reset local changes
This often resolves issues with missing updates:

    • Go to Browse in Anki
    • Click on the AnkiHub addon at the top
    • Select “Reset local changes”
    • Choose your deck from the list
  3. Verify you’re subscribed to the correct deck

    • Make sure you’re subscribed to the official deck from the AnKing team
    • You can see the official AnKing decks here
  4. Check your protected fields

    • For the AnKing Step Deck, AnkiHub downloads media for the following fields: Text, Extra, Sketchy, and Pixorize
    • If you have unprotected fields that AnkiHub doesn’t provide media for, this may result in missing images

If you’ve tried these steps and still don’t see Update 17 content, please let me know, and we can explore other troubleshooting options.

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

Just to make sure: when you say ‘update 17’ are you referring to the AnKing Step deck?

If so, can you help me understand how you’ve determined that you haven’t received any of those updates?

Just so I’m on the same page

Hi, yes I mean the anking step deck. I saw they added a bunch of new pictures and diagrams, and I don’t have any of those on any of the corresponding cards. I’ve clicked “sync to ankihub”, but still I dont see any of the pictures they added in update 17.

For example, they added a diagram on “Acromegaly”, but none of my slides that mention acromegaly have that diagram on it.

Gotcha, thanks for that additional context.

Just for a little bit of clarification: updates are added all the time, on a rolling basis, often many dozens of updates per day. They’re not tied, specifically, to a numbered update.

The ‘update 17’ that you’re referencing is the monthly forum post that the maintainers share in order to discuss all of the updates made, and ongoing, to the deck over the course of the last month. But those updates go out, on a rolling basis, each time that you sync, just FYI.

Can you show me which image it is that you’re referring to? Just so I’m on the same page

If you’re referring to the ‘behind the scenes’ time-lapse, I don’t believe that image has yet made it into the deck. It’s meant as a behind-the-scenes glimpse into how images are made before they go up for consideration in being added to the deck.

Even once images are added to the deck, it takes a while for them to be approved and to be rolled out to users. Depending on the volume of edits that have to be made, this can sometimes take a while as all suggestions and edits have to be reviewed, and receive consensus, by the deck maintainers before they can be pushed out and become live updates for users.

Please let me know if that answers your question, and if there’s anything else I can help with.
