The anking deck is not syncing to my Anki desktop @ankihub_AI_bot

Hello,
I recently upgraded my membership to gain access to the anking step deck on ankihub. I have added the ankihub add on and restarted my Anki desktop, however the Anking deck I am subscribed to is not showing up on my Anki desktop. Only the “getting started” deck. I’ve tried numerous times to sync to ankihub and I till cannot see the anking step desk. Please help.

Hi there! It looks like you’re having trouble getting your AnKing Step Deck to appear in your Anki desktop after subscribing on AnkiHub. Let me help you with that.

Here’s what you need to do to get your AnKing Step Deck showing up:

  1. Verify your AnkiHub subscription - It sounds like you’ve already upgraded your membership and can see that you’re subscribed to the AnKing Step Deck on the AnkiHub website.

  2. Make sure you’re following the complete process:

    • You need to first subscribe to the deck on the AnkiHub explore page
    • Then open Anki desktop and click the sync button (or press Y)
    • Make sure you’re logged into the same AnkiHub account in your add-on that you used to subscribe to the deck
  3. Check the sync process:

    • Open Anki desktop
    • Click on “AnkiHub” in the top menu
    • Make sure you’re logged in with the correct account
    • Click on “Sync” in Anki (not just the AnkiHub sync)
  4. Check after syncing:

    • Sometimes it takes a moment for the deck to appear
    • The deck might be installed but showing 0 cards (this is normal as all cards are suspended by default)

If you’ve tried all these steps and the deck still isn’t showing up, here are a few troubleshooting steps:

  • Restart Anki completely after logging into AnkiHub
  • Make sure your AnkiHub add-on is up to date
  • Check if there are any error messages when you try to sync

If you continue having issues, please provide more details about what happens when you try to sync, including any error messages you might see.

The AnKing Step Deck is quite large, so it might take some time to download and process all the media files when you first sync it.

Hello,

Try resetting local changes: How to Reset Local Changes

If it still doesn’t show up after that, could you please send me a screenshot of your Anki main screen and the Browse screen?

Based on the latest response from the moderator, it seems they’ve provided a potential solution to your issue with the AnKing deck not showing up on your Anki desktop. Let me help you understand what to do next:

  1. Try resetting local changes as suggested in the link they provided. This can help resolve sync issues between AnkiHub and your Anki desktop.

  2. If that doesn’t work, they’ve asked you to provide:

    • A screenshot of your Anki main screen (the decks view)
    • A screenshot of your Browse screen

These screenshots will help the moderator diagnose exactly what might be happening with your AnkiHub subscription and sync process.

When taking screenshots, make sure they clearly show:

  • Your deck list
  • Any AnkiHub-related notifications or messages
  • Your Browse screen with the tag list visible (if possible)

Resetting local changes can often fix issues where decks aren’t properly syncing between AnkiHub and your Anki desktop, especially after a new subscription. This process ensures that any conflicting changes are resolved, allowing the AnkiHub deck to appear properly in your collection.

I did what you suggested and I still cannot see or open the anking deck

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

Can you go to your Browse screen, look for the following tag, and let me know if it’s present in your collection?

That should give a better idea of what’s afoot, and hopefully make it a bit easier to be of help

Hi @Brian_BH, yes I have that tag

Gotcha, thanks for that.

Given that you have the appropriate tags present, this tells us that the deck has installed and that your cards are likely all there.

If you look at your Browse screen, there should be a column labeled ‘deck’ that will give you information about where exactly those cards are parked.

What most likely happened, and isn’t uncommon, is that you had/have some older cards in your collection that are from an older AnKing deck and/or one of the earlier decks that were originally incorporated into the AnKing deck. What happens when this is the case is that Anki ‘sees’ that you have cards in your deck that share a lineage and it presumes that you want to park them in the same place as the others.

Thus, in all likelihood, the cards are there, they’re just in a different parking spot. A little confusing, for sure, but not ultimately too big a deal.

What you decide to do from here is pretty much up to your preference/s:

  • If you don’t mind them being in their current location you can leave them there and review as-is. No harm no foul.
  • If you would prefer to move them elsewhere you can move them to any other deck, or subdeck, that you prefer and it won’t harm anything. It’s really up to you where, and if, you move them.

If you decide to move them, you can select a given tag, hit command+A, right-click one of the cards, and select ‘change deck’ to move them wherever you’d like.
Hopefully that clears up some of the confusion.

it says they are in sketchy decks that I already have. I am not sure if I want to keep them there or to move the anking to its own deck

There’s no right or wrong answer there, really; where the cards end up located is up to you. It’s not one of those things for which there is a right, or wrong, answer, ultimately

You’re free to move them around, or organize, or reorganize them as however suits you best or however you prefer.

Please let me know if that answers your question, and if there’s anything else I can help with.
