How do I sign in / sign up for an Ankiweb account with a code instead of a password?

After installing the AnkiHub add-on in your Anki for the first time, upon clicking sync, you will be prompted to create an Ankiweb account.

You can choose to make one by either:

1. Signing up with a new account (email and password) and receiving a verification code
2. Signing up with an email only and receiving a verification code (AKA magic code method)

This FAQ will explain the steps involved in the magic code method

If you do not have a ankiweb account yet

1. Once Anki is installed and you have the AnkiHub add-on installed and logged in
2. Click ‘Sync’, this will prompt the ankiweb.net magic code option to appear
3. Type in the email you would like to use to create a new ankiweb.net account with and then click “Sign Up”
4. Read the Ankiweb Terms & Conditions and tick the box
5. Once you receive the code in your email, paste the code and click Sign in

If you already have a Ankiweb account

1. Once Anki is installed and you have the AnkiHub add-on installed and logged in
2. Click ‘Sync’, this will prompt the ankiweb.net magic code option to appear
3. Enter the email address associated with your existing ankiweb.net account and click “Get Code.”
4. Check your email (ensure to also check spam/junk) to receive your code
5. Paste the code in the “Code” section” then click Sign In

Note: The magic code sign up method is only available to those who have the AnkiHub add-on installed. If you do not have the AnkiHub add-on installed, you will not be able to see the magic code method to create a ankiweb.net account
