I see you’re experiencing an issue with missing media files in your Anki app. Based on your screenshots, there are thousands of missing files that need to be addressed. Let me help you resolve this!

Why Media Files Might Be Missing

There are several possible causes for missing media files:

  1. Incomplete sync with AnkiWeb - Media files may not have fully downloaded during syncing
  2. Media wasn’t included in imports - If you imported decks without their media
  3. Protected fields in AnkiHub - If you’re using AnkiHub decks, some fields with media might be protected

How to Fix Missing Media Files

Here are some steps you can take to restore your missing media:

1. Check AnkiHub Media Sync Status (if using AnkiHub)

If you’re using AnkiHub decks:

  • Go to the AnkiHub add-on menu at the top of Anki
  • Check if media sync says “Idle” or “Downloading”
  • If it says “Downloading,” wait for it to complete (can take up to 60 minutes)

2. Force a Full Media Sync with AnkiWeb

  1. Go to Tools > Preferences > Network
  2. Check the box that says “On next sync, force changes in one direction”
  3. Sync your collection
  4. When prompted, choose “Download” to get all media from AnkiWeb

3. Reset Local Changes (for AnkiHub users)

If you’re using AnkiHub decks:

  1. Go to Browse in Anki
  2. Click on the AnkiHub add-on tab at the top
  3. Press “Reset all local changes”
  4. Select the specific deck with missing media

4. Manual Media Recovery

If the above methods don’t work:

  1. Log out of AnkiWeb in your preferences
  2. The next time you sync, Anki will restore any deleted files that are still on AnkiWeb

5. Import Media from External Sources (AnkiHub)

If you’re using AnkiHub decks with special media:

  • Use the AnkiHub > Import Media function to import media from folders, .apkg files, or cloud links

Prevention Tips

To prevent media issues in the future:

  • Ensure full syncs complete before closing Anki
  • Use the Check Media function periodically
  • When importing decks, make sure to include media
  • Back up your collection with File > Create Backup (with media included)

If you need more specific help based on which decks you’re using or where the media came from, please let me know!
