Getting Media for the AnKing Step Deck

The AnKing Step Deck is now distributed through AnkiHub, which includes proper media management. Here’s how to properly get the media files:

If You’re Using AnkiHub:

  1. Check Media Sync Status:

    • Go to the AnkiHub add-on menu at the top of Anki
    • Check if the media sync status says “Idle” or “Downloading”
    • If it says “Downloading,” wait for it to complete (can take up to 60 minutes)

  2. Reset Local Changes:

    • Go to Browse in Anki
    • Click on the AnkiHub add-on tab
    • Press “Reset all local changes”
    • Select the AnKing deck

  3. Check Protected Fields:

    • AnkiHub protects many fields by default (like First Aid, Physeo, etc.)
    • If you need images in these fields, you’ll need to unprotect them through the AnkiHub website

If You’re Not Using AnkiHub Yet:

  1. Install AnkiHub Add-on:

    • Go to Tools > Add-ons > Get Add-ons
    • Paste this code: 1322529746

  2. Subscribe to the Official Deck:

Manual Media Recovery (For Non-AnkiHub Users):

If you’re using an older version and can’t switch to AnkiHub:

  1. Force a Full Media Sync:

    • Go to Tools > Preferences > Network
    • Check “On next sync, force changes in one direction”
    • Sync and choose “Download” to get all media from AnkiWeb

  2. Generate LaTeX Images:

    • Go to Tools > Check Media to generate any missing LaTeX images

Important Notes:

  1. AnkiHub now handles media properly, so importing media separately is only needed for special resource packs.

  2. Some fields in the AnKing deck intentionally don’t have images unless you’ve unprotected those fields and imported the relevant media.

  3. The Text and Extra fields should have images by default in the AnkiHub version.
