Need help resetting anking deck without losing progress

Hi guys, I am not an anki wiz or anything but there is something wrong with my anki. I am an MS1 and initially when I downloaded the step deck I renamed it to anking. since then ive had tons of issues. I accidentally deleted cards and they not downloading anymore even when i sync from anking. I also have a ton of note types, not sure if im supposed to (see below). and now i redownloaded the anki cards from the web by resetting local changes in the browse menu. However, im now facing an issue in that although the cards are tagged high yield, relatively high yield, etc. they not showing up under that menu in the browse tab. see below. I would like to fix this and if not, I would love to just delete everything and redownload it from scratch and then import my progress or something.

Here is the note types: there are so many more

Here is the high yield tags missing im talking about:

I’ll help you troubleshoot your AnKing deck issues. Let me search for some relevant information that might help with your situation.

Hi there! I understand you’re having issues with your AnKing deck after renaming it, and now you’re facing problems with deleted cards, syncing, and tags not displaying properly. Here’s how you can fix this:

Reset Your Deck Without Losing Progress

The simplest solution is to reset your local changes through AnkiHub:

  1. Go to the Browse section in Anki
  2. In the menu bar at the top, click on AnkiHub
  3. Select Reset all local changes
  4. Choose the AnKing deck
  5. Click OK

This will restore all the cards and tags to their original state from AnkiHub while preserving your review history and scheduling information.

If Tags Are Still Not Showing Up

If the high yield tags still don’t appear in the browse tab after resetting:

  • Make sure you’ve synced with AnkiHub completely (check the sync status in the AnkiHub tab)
  • Check if the tag hierarchy is collapsed - try clicking on the small triangles next to tag categories

If You Want to Start Fresh but Keep Progress

If you want a completely fresh install while keeping your progress:

  1. Create a backup of your collection (File > Export > Anki Collection Package)
  2. Unsubscribe from the AnKing deck in AnkiHub
  3. Delete the deck in Anki
  4. Resubscribe to the official AnKing deck through AnkiHub
  5. Let it fully download (including all media)

This should give you a clean installation with the proper tag structure.

As for the multiple note types, that’s actually normal for the AnKing deck - it contains several note types for different content types.

Let me know if this helps or if you need further assistance!

It is still not working despite what you told me to do

I’ll help you troubleshoot this issue further since resetting local changes didn’t resolve your problem.

I understand that my previous suggestions didn’t resolve your issues with the AnKing deck. Let’s try a more comprehensive approach to fix your problems with missing high yield tags and other syncing issues.

Complete Reset and Fix Solution

Here’s a step-by-step process that should fix your issues:

  1. Create a backup first

    • Go to File > Export > ā€œAnki Collection Package (.colpkg)ā€
    • Save this file somewhere safe
  2. Check your AnkiHub Add-on

    • Make sure you have the latest version of AnkiHub add-on
    • Go to Tools > Add-ons > Check for Updates
  3. Complete Reset of AnkiHub Connection

    • Close Anki completely
    • Restart Anki while holding down the SHIFT key (this disables add-ons temporarily)
    • Go to Tools > Add-ons
    • Select the AnkiHub add-on and click ā€œDeleteā€
    • Restart Anki normally
    • Reinstall the AnkiHub add-on with code: 1322529746
    • Sign in to your AnkiHub account
  4. Clean Deck Setup

    • Unsubscribe from the AnKing deck in AnkiHub
    • Delete the AnKing deck from your Anki collection
    • Go to Tools > Check Database (to ensure everything is clean)
    • Resubscribe to the official AnKing deck on AnkiHub
    • Sync and install the deck
  5. Fix the Tags Display Issue

    • After the deck is installed, go to Browse
    • Click on the gear icon in the tag sidebar
    • Make sure ā€œShow all descendantsā€ is checked
    • Expand the tag hierarchy by clicking on the triangles
  6. Final Sync and Reset

    • Go to Browse in Anki
    • Click on AnkiHub in the top menu
    • Select ā€œReset all local changesā€
    • Choose the AnKing deck
    • Click OK
    • Let it complete fully without interruption

The high yield tags should now be visible under the #AK_Step1_v12 > ^HighYield tag hierarchy. The tag structure includes different yield levels:

  • High Yield
  • Relatively High Yield
  • Medium Yield
  • Relatively Low Yield
  • Low Yield

If you’re still having issues after these steps, it’s possible there might be:

  1. A conflict with another add-on (try disabling other add-ons)
  2. An issue with your Anki installation (consider a clean reinstall)
  3. A profile-specific issue (try creating a new profile)

Let me know if this helps or if you need further assistance!

Hello,

I would be happy to help.

Yeah, that is correct. If you delete cards they won’t automatically be reinstated upon sync. This is by design, though you can reinstate those cards by resetting local changes.

It looks like you may, at some point in time, have had (or still have) some older cards in your collection (this would explain the note types thing as well as the tags issue, and is evidenced by your having the v11 tags still in your local collection)

For the high-yield tag/s, the solution is fairly straightforward in that the newer versions of the tags are in a different location:

Please let me know if that answers your question, and if there’s anything else I can help with.
