I recently had trouble with my anki add on, so I uninstalled and reinstalled. Ever since then, when I download a new deck from someone, no images appear, no matter where they are from, no matter if it is a screenshoted image. The same problem is happening with my Anking v12 deck. I know that physeo should not open but NOTHING opens, there is no Sketchy or anything else. I have tried syncing media, but that does not work. It says “media sync idle”. Please help! Thank you so much, and I hope that you have a good rest of your day.
Hmm, I have not seen this before usually it gets resolved when doing the steps above.
Can you check your storage on your device and see if that might be an issue? If there’s too little space left that might be the culprit.
Also try updating to the latest MacOS software.
Also what Anki version are you currently running? You can check by going to Anki in the top left and pressing about, we are currently recommending 2.1.64
Also check to see what fields are protected. Although I doubt that would be the issue, you can check by going to the ankihub website, go to anking overhaul, then press on the 3 dots at the top right and press manage protected data. Sketchy, text, extra should not have checks
I ended up just downloading a media pack. It worked, but oddly I have thousands of unused files noted within that media pack once downloaded. Fixed for now?
Had similar issue. I noticed several media images are saved with a different spelling, punctuation, abbreviation, etc., therefore it doesn’t sync with the proper media file that should show up with a card.
Ex: this is the name of one image
“glasses-discover-fundamental-law-genetics-by-being-pea-garden-farmer-aint-müch-but-s-honest-work”
Because of the ü in “much”, it showed up as a media file that’s unused, even though on the actual card, where the image should go, the image is missing. When changing it to a regular u, it synced and media file no longer listed under unused.

Been at this for 2 hours… officially decided to move on and actually study (sigh)
I am also having this issue, tried all of the above, and nothing has worked. I am on anki .65, tried downloading media packs, unsubbed and resubbed, everything. Tried on another computer. tried on my phone. tried on my ipad. nada. What can I do? Images used to show up last year, but now they’re gone? same computer, same app. Subscribed to the overhaul deck just to see if that would fix it, but still nothing. Some sketchy images show up, but first aid is completely blank.
Specifically, some sketchy images in a seemingly random pattern, and first aid. I don’t have a pixorize or physio subscription and don’t expect those to be in there. For instance, first aid images for most intro immunology decks have absolutely no media attached–just the question mark blue boxes. I’ve made sure nothing aside from lecture notes is marked as protected, waited for media to finish downloading (on both computer and iPad), reset all local changes twice, and triple checked I was subscribed to the correct deck. Still nothing. This happened once before when ankihub was just an idea tossed around on Reddit, and I solved it by re-uploading the deck and it worked. Unfortunately this isn’t going the same way this time. Any ideas?
Update: I uninstalled and reinstalled my plug-ins, and the sketchy images are working fine now. Not sure how that affected the media since I don’t have any overwhelming plug ins, but it worked.
As for first aid, I thought those synced as well through the hub. Which media package do I need for those?
