I apologize in advance, this question is asked multiple times already, but the answers did not fix my problem.
I have issues with Media Sync for Zanki deck for USMLE Step 1/2
I downloaded the deck to my HP desktop but no media was downloaded. I read that I need to synchronize it again and I did and waited until "sync completed " would pop up but unfortunately there is still no Media/pictures.
What did I do wrong?
I also read that I should download the deck again but I added some of my own pictures and notes to the deck, would I lose my notes and pics?
Do I have to delete everything and start from the beginning with the download of the deck? I assume that I definitely will lose my notes this way, so Iâd like to try a less drastic way, if it is possible.

I understand your frustration with missing media in your Zanki deck. This is a common issue that can be resolved without losing your notes. Let me help you troubleshoot this:
Check Your Media Sync Status
Based on your screenshots, it looks like your AnkiHub addon shows âMedia sync: Idleâ which means the media sync process has completed, but youâre still not seeing the images.
Here are some steps to try:
1. Verify Media Download Progress
First, make sure that AnkiHub has fully completed downloading the media:
Sometimes the âIdleâ status appears before all media has actually synced
Try going to Tools > Check Media in Anki to see if it triggers any additional media syncing
2. Reset Local Changes (This preserves your notes)
This is often the most effective solution:
Go to Browse in Anki
Click on the AnkiHub addon tab at the top
Click âReset local changesâ
Select the Zanki deck
This process will restore the deck to its original state while preserving your protected fields (which would include your personal notes if you added them to protected fields).
3. Try Manual Media Import
If the above doesnât work:
Click on the AnkiHub addon in your menu bar
Select âImport mediaâ
Choose the appropriate source for your media
Important Notes:
You donât need to delete everything and start over - that would cause you to lose your notes
Make sure youâre subscribed to the official version of the deck
The reset local changes option is usually the safest way to fix media issues without losing your own additions
If youâve protected your fields correctly, your personal notes and images should remain after these steps. For more detailed information, you can check out this FAQ post about missing images.
Let me know if these steps work for you or if you need additional help!
Just for my own clarity: do you mean Zanki, or the AnKing, Step deck?
In either case, though, I donât show (at least for this username) that youâre currently subscribed to either deck on AnkiHub, which might be part of the problem.
You might try making sure that you are subscribed to the deck that you want, and double-checking there. Then, if youâre still having any issues, please let me know and happy to help troubleshoot for you further.
I think I am subscribed to AnkiHub. But Im subscribed with a different email address in the app and hub. Could that be the issue?
I tried to change the email address but it didnât work for some reason.
