My laptop just broke so I got a new one and am trying to sync with Ankihub to continue my flashcards. Every time I try and sync it cancels it and says I need to verify my email and sign into Ankiweb, which I have. It still won’t let me sync. Not sure what to do from here.

Based on the information I found, it looks like you’re experiencing an issue with syncing Anki and AnkiHub on your new laptop. From what I can tell, the error message about email verification is likely related to AnkiWeb, not AnkiHub.
The Issue: AnkiWeb vs. AnkiHub Email Verification
It appears you’re getting confused between AnkiWeb and AnkiHub, which are two separate services:
- AnkiWeb is Anki’s built-in syncing service that syncs your collection across devices
- AnkiHub is an add-on and web service for collaborative deck creation and sharing
How to Fix the Issue:
-
First, verify your AnkiWeb email:
- Visit ankiweb.net and log in with your AnkiWeb account
- Check if there’s any email verification prompt there
- This should resolve the “verify your email” error message
-
Then set up AnkiHub on your new laptop:
- Install the AnkiHub add-on
- Open Anki and log into the AnkiHub add-on with your AnkiHub credentials
- Click the sync button to download your AnkiHub decks
Common Mistake:
Many users confuse these two services. The error message about email verification is specifically related to AnkiWeb sync, not AnkiHub. You need to resolve the AnkiWeb sync issue first before you can properly use AnkiHub.
If you continue having issues after following these steps, please provide more specific details about the exact error messages you’re seeing.
Hello,
Just checking in to make sure the bot’s answer was helpful.
To clarify the difference between the two services:
-
AnkiHub: You log into your AnkiHub account using the add-on inside the Anki app. This is what allows you to download and receive updates for the AnKing deck.
-
AnkiWeb: This is a separate service provided by Anki itself and has nothing to do with AnkiHub. You need to log into your AnkiWeb account to back up your collection to the cloud and sync it between your devices. You need to confirm your email here: https://ankiweb.net/decks
