my follow up was in response to this as i wanted to ask the update on finding the underlying issue. perhaps if that can be found i can finally have access to all necessary media as this issue only started occurring after upgrading from v11 (when i had no issues with media).
I spent a lot of time investigating your issue last time but found nothing new so far unfortunately and we didn’t get similar reports from other users.
TBH Im not sure this isn’t still a question of local storage. My Collection folder is nearly 16gb. (granted I do have a good chunk of cards that aren’t AnKing but most people do so). Anki takes up a lot of space. and where you don’t have much to give there. many computers require you to leave a certain amount of space on a computer unoccupied (for downloading future updates, temp files, etc). maybe invest in an external hard drive/USB to store some of your other personal items (to make room for anki media on your device) It looks like a good chunk of your space if coming from sharing the device “other users” maybe they could also offload some data onto an external hard drive/USB to make more room.
That’s the only thing I can logically think of causing it too^
It would be ideal if you can free up even 50 gb to fully rule this out
yeah i understand i guess i will try that. but can’t we rule out storage as an issue because when i was sent the media via the zip link in the previous post the images then started showing up.
Maybe ankihub needs a bit more storage than available to download all the images. Not sure but this is the only time the media issue hasn’t worked which I believe could be due to something locally from your computer (e.g storage)
Usually resetting local changes fixes it instantly
Can you send a screenshot of your current “check media”
it looks like you just dropped the zip file in the media. That won’t work. So I’d start with removing that either to your desktop or downloads folder (bc it’s not serving any purpose there right now, in matter of fact its causing problems) → then “delete unused media” → “empty trash” → “Check database” → Sync (y) with AnkiWeb→ unzip the file → Follow the steps you were given above to upload the media from the unzipped folder (remember files within a zipped folder won’t be useful) → “Check database” → Sync with AnkiWeb (this can take a while) → Sync with AnkiHub → send another screenshot here of your “check media”
A post was split to a new topic: Media not appearing
ok so basically what i did previously was manually drop all the files into the folder and replaced the ones already existing as was instructed (drag and dropped everything in the downloaded folder into my collection folder). i didn’t just put the zip in which is why the media actually started working. but there may be a chance before that i i could have just inserted the zip (but i didn’t see it in the folder so i doubt i did) so i did what you said and tried again. im getting the same stuff
you did not clear unused media. and you did not remove the zip file. follow my instructions step for step or we cant verify anything
ok i’ll try locating the zip file in the folder and removing it and will get back to you
