I have recently experienced issues with my „ankizin“ deck and my AnkiHub subscription (The deck I am using and which I want to use Ankihub for is called Ankizin). Initially, I had one deck called Ankizin, once I subscribed to Ankihub, another deck called Ankizin (ankihub) war automatically created, but all of the cards were moved to Ankizin (Ankihub). Due to synchronization the cards were synchronzied with both decks but most of the times with the one called (ankihub), mixing with their subdecks and making my learning progress confusing. Additionally, unwanted decks kept appearing.
I resolved these issues by:
Moving all cards from unwanted subdecks into the desired „ankizin (AnkiHub)“ deck
Deleting unnecessary decks
Then renaming the „ankizin (AnkiHub)“ deck to „ankizin“, because I thought the deck wouldn’t be recognized as the subscription deck otherwise (If I look at the subscribed decks in "manage subscription", there is only one subscribed deck, which is called "Ankizin".
Currently, the new problem is that my local „ankizin“ deck is not recognized by AnkiHub as the subscription deck. When I try to subscribe or re-link the subscription, I am not prompted to select the deck, and the subscription cannot be properly connected to my deck. Every time I subscribe, it says that I need to install the Ankizin deck.
I have already tried:
Deleting the old subscription deck and syncing, syncing with AnkiWeb
Canceling and re-subscribing to the subscription in AnkiHub
Restarting Anki completely
Checking and optimizing the database
Ensuring that only one „ankizin“ deck exists
Using the latest versions of Anki and the AnkiHub add-on
Despite this, AnkiHub does not recognize my local „ankizin“ deck as the subscription deck, so I cannot use the subscription as intended.
Could you please help me connect my local deck correctly with the subscription?

Hi there! I understand you’re experiencing issues with your AnkiHub subscription and deck recognition. This is a common issue that can happen when decks are renamed or modified. Let me help you resolve this.
What’s happening
When you subscribe to a deck on AnkiHub, it creates a specific deck with an identifier that AnkiHub uses to track and sync changes. When you renamed the deck from “Ankizin (AnkiHub)” to just “Ankizin”, you broke that connection, which is why AnkiHub can’t recognize your deck anymore.
How to fix this issue
Here’s what I recommend:
Cancel your current subscription on the AnkiHub website (if you haven’t already)
Sync with AnkiWeb to ensure your changes are saved
Resubscribe to the Ankizin deck on the AnkiHub website
Sync Anki after resubscribing
When prompted during the sync, choose the option to link with an existing deck
Select your current “Ankizin” deck to link it with the subscription
This should re-establish the connection between your local deck and the AnkiHub subscription.
Additional tips to avoid future issues
Don’t rename AnkiHub decks manually - always use the deck management options within the AnkiHub add-on if you need to change anything
Keep the “(AnkiHub)” suffix in the deck name - this helps both you and AnkiHub identify subscription decks
Always sync with AnkiWeb before and after making major changes to your decks
If the steps above don’t resolve your issue, you might need to:
Check if you have the latest version of both Anki and the AnkiHub add-on
Try reinstalling the AnkiHub add-on
As a last resort, you could export your cards (without scheduling information), then delete the problematic deck, resubscribe, and import your cards into the new AnkiHub deck
Let me know if you need any clarification on these steps or if you encounter any issues during the process!
This did not resolve the issue as I am not prompted to link with an existing deck while syncing and it does also not explain why old, empty decks keep reappearing.
