Hello,
I noticed that some images are missing in my Anking v12 deck, particularly the first aid images. I have tried checking media and syncing but these issues prevail. I have attached a screenshot of the issue.
Thanks!

Reading: Why don't I have all the media in the AnKing Step Deck?
Hi Mustafa,
Thanks for reaching out about the missing First Aid images in your AnKing v12 deck. This is a common issue with the AnKing Step Deck and has a specific explanation.
Based on your screenshot, you’re seeing the “missing media” icon where First Aid images should appear. Here’s what’s happening:
Why First Aid images are missing
The First Aid field in the AnKing Step Deck is protected by default. When you see those missing media icons, it means:
- You have unprotected the First Aid field on AnkiHub, which allows the HTML references to the images to appear
- However, you don’t have the actual image files in your media folder
As explained in this FAQ post, the AnKing team cannot include all First Aid images due to copyright reasons:
The deck may include html that references images found in earlier versions of the deck with undetermined rights to use and as such may not include a useable image. We are actively working to replace everything in the deck with better images that we have permissions to share.
What you can do
You have a few options:
-
Re-protect the field: If you don’t want to see the missing media icons, you can re-protect the First Aid field on AnkiHub.
-
Import media from previous versions: If you have access to First Aid images from previous versions of the deck, you can use AnkiHub’s media import function to add them.
-
Replace with alternate images: The AnKing team has been replacing First Aid images with public domain images or images they have permission to use (like Physeo textbook images).
To check if a field is protected and make changes:
- View your note on app.AnkiHub.net (click “view on AnkiHub” within Anki)
- Adjust protection settings as needed
- If you change protection settings, you may need to unsubscribe and re-subscribe to trigger a full sync
Remember that the deck is intended to be used with resources you’ve legally purchased, so the team recommends having access to the actual First Aid book.
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
Hello,
I hope the bot’s message was clear.
As it mentioned, these images are protected by copyright. If you want to have these images in your deck, you will need a separate subscription to that resource. You can learn more about how this integration works here: McGraw Hill Integration FAQ
