I am currently experiencing an issue where I cannot sync images through Ankihub. As seen in the screenshot below, there are many missing files. Images that are supposed to be on cards appear as the mountain icon. I have tried re-downloading the deck through Ankihub. I have also tried importing the deck as .apkg file, however, I do not think that Captain Hook V2 file is compatible with the new Anki 25.09 update. If anyone could offer some advice, Iād greatly appreciate

This looks like a media (image)āsync issue rather than a problem with the Captain Hook deck itself.
Here are the steps Iād try:
1. Confirm the problem is only on this device
On the computer with Anki 25.09:
Tools ā Check Media (screenshot you posted)
If it lists hundreds of Missing files, those image files are simply not present in your local collection.media folder.
If you have another device (older Anki version / your phone), check some of the same cards there:
If the images show up on the other device but not on 25.09, your media exists somewhere and just isnāt on this install yet.
2. Reādownload media from the original deck source
Because AnkiHub only syncs note content and tags, not images themselves, you need a deck copy that contains the full media set:
Get the latest Captain Hook V2 .apkg from the original source (AnkiWeb / creatorās link).
In Anki 25.09:
File ā Import ā select the .apkg.
On the import screen, make sure:
The target deck is your existing Captain Hook / AnkiHubālinked deck (or a temporary deck if you prefer).
Import.
Run Tools ā Check Media again and see if the āMissingā count drops.
Even if some cards are already in your collection, importing a .apkg will still bring in any media files that are missing.
If Anki 25.09 refuses to import that specific .apkg (compatibility error), you can:
Install the previous stable Anki version on another computer or in a separate install,
Import the Captain Hook .apkg there to pull all the media,
Then copy that profileās collection.media folder over to your current profile (replacing/merging).
If you want, I can outline those copy steps.
3. Verify AnkiHub sync isnāt blocked
Just to be sure:
In Anki: Tools ā Add-ons ā AnkiHub ā Config and make sure youāre logged in.
Use AnkiHub ā Force full sync (if available in your version) or just sync from the AnkiHub menu.
After syncing, again run Tools ā Check Media.
If images still show as the āmountainā icon and Check Media continues to list the same filenames as missing, it confirms the files simply arenāt on this machine and need to be restored from backup or a fresh .apkg.
4. If you have a backup
If you have any .colpkg or system backups from before the 25.09 update:
Restore that backup in a separate profile (so you donāt overwrite your current work).
Confirm images are present there.
Copy the collection.media folder from that profile into your main one.
Next steps
Could you reply with:
Whether another device/profile still shows the images correctly, and
What happens when you try importing the Captain Hook V2 .apkg into 25.09 (any exact error message)?
With that, we can narrow down whether this is a deckāformat issue in 25.09 or just missing media in your current profile and I can give more targeted steps.
If this doesnāt resolve the issue, please keep in mind a few things regarding missing media:
Ankiās built-in Tools > Check Media tool can sometimes show a āmissing filesā report even when no media is actually missing from your AnkiHub decks.
Broken image icons usually only indicate missing media if they appear in specific fields like Text, Extra, Sketchy, and Pixorize.
For First Aid and B&B content, you will need a separate subscription to that resource. You can learn more about how this integration works here: McGraw Hill Integration FAQ
Screenshots of some cards that are missing media would be really helpful!
Let me know if you are still experiencing this issue after trying the steps above.
I followed the tutorial āWhy is my deck missing images?ā and still having issues. The media sync shows idle and I tried resetting my local changes. I have attached a screen shot of a card with a missing image.
Could you please open the editor for this flashcard (or any other flashcard that has missing images) and tell me if the View on AnkiHub button is clickable?
Resetting local changes usually resolves this issue. However, I suspect that you may have some flashcards in your Anki collection that are not actually linked to the AnkiHub Captain Hook MCAT deck youāre referencing.
It appears there is an issue with the media that the owner of this deck uploaded to AnkiHub. I installed the deck, and the media isnāt downloading for me either.
As this is not an official deck maintained by the AnkiHub team, I recommend contacting the deck owner or submitting a suggestion regarding the issue so they can try re-uploading the media.
We will also communicate with the developer on our side to see if there is anything we can do on our side to help you!
Iāve only received 1 or 2 messages regarding media not uploading, and the deck has got around 150 subscribers now. Iām assuming it isnāt an issue everyone is facing otherwise I would anticipate having received more messages.
Let me know if thereās anything I can look at on my end!
